For episodes 1-8,10-13,15-24 of Moon Phase the opening theme was "Neko Mimi Mode" and for episodes 9,14 the opening theme was "Tsuku Yomi Mode"
The pun about the ears that Hazuki wears is that "Neko Mimi" is a Japanese slang term for a catgirl.
Most of the objects seen during the opening sequence are shown as visual puns on the moon ("tsuki"). The flowers are evening primrose ("tsukimisou"). The bear is a Asian black bear, or crescent moon bear - so named for the crescent marking on its chest ("tsukinowaguma"). The baby is in diapers ("mutsuki"). The noodle dish is soba with egg ("tsukimisoba"). The Moon Rabbit is the Japanese equivalent of the Man in the Moon. The rabbits are making moon mochi ("tsuki-mochi") in a mortar for pounding rice ("tsukiusu"). The turtles are said to lay their eggs under the full moon. Spraining a finger, (i.e. with a ball), is "tsukiyubi". And finally, the word for vampire, ("kyuuketsuki") is also a pun on the moon.
