  • Human, Vamps and His Beth.

"He has Beth. He has my Beth. So please, please brother."

    "Mick. Forgive me"...

One of the best Eps Moonlight has had imo. With Mick being human the dinamics of the show change a bit, but not much. Which tells us that this show doesnt go on the hole 'turn vamp, lose your soul/spirit' thing. You do get to see a very happy and content Mick, with his sirt half off too :p But the ep isnt all sun and Humans. With the shock of Maureen's (Beths boss) death, it sends both Mick and Beth into investigative mode. After hunting down all the suspects they catch their Vamp, but Beth ends up getting taken. This leads to the moment were Micks feeling really show, not only to use but to Josef as well. The seen that follows is not only emotional but sexy :D I dont care what you think. but imo two hot guys (one vamp) turning the other for a girl he's in love with and cant save unless he's something he hates being, is hot.

and sealed with a mickbeth kiss at the end, It's a ep I have watch a few times :Dmoreless
  • I waited months for Mick to kiss Beth back and when he did it was great! But, the real emotional moments in this episode were between Mick and Josef!

I'm a spoiler fan so I knew Josef was going to turn Mick. What I didn't know was what that Josef was going to turn on Mick to teach him he couln't go after the vampires as a human. I was startled and thrilled. Finally I got to see that powerful 400 year old Vamp - go vamp! What a great episode. All of the characters moved along. Mick and Beth are closer. Josef and Mick epitomize the friendships that make great stories all on their own. What a wondrful series! The turning scene will go down as one of the classics for Moonlight and maybe for all of television!moreless
  • I thought this episode would clinch it!

I just watched my DVD set today for the umpteenth time since this series was canceled in what had to be the dumbest move in TV history, and I recall thinking when "Fated to Pretend" first aired after the strike, that this episode would SURELY clinch the coveted renewal.

It was sci-fi fantasy TV at its very best and brought out the best in all the key characters; especially the interactions between "brothers" Josef and Mick, and not-yet lovers Mick and Beth.

Like all good shows it contained humour, suspense and not a few hard earned tears, and all for great characters and a plot line that were so easy to invest in.

...and today, after watching again, I am still shaking my head all this time later over why this great series was lost. Still, this show accomplished more in 16 episodes than many do in years on the air.moreless
  • Human first....vampire next...human again...vampire again...and no more being human.

    8.0
Well, Mick is human again...and then he decides he was better off being a vampire anyway. The new D.A is kinda cute. I've seen him in a movie with much longer hair, but he's better with short hair. Anyway, Mick and Beth are working together again in two case. One being a about a politician killing his wife, while the other is about donuts that have a killing ingredient in them, which is the end it has nothing to do with the donuts...but vampires.

Beth and Ben(the new D.A) got kidnapped by vampire, and human Mick desperately wants to save them, well....he only seem concerned with Beth anyway.

Well, here Josef goes again. Chickening out from a vampire fight. Despite being a 400 yr old vamp, he sure doesn't look tough like Mick being human. And if Josef really cares about Mick, he should have offered himself and his army of vamps(if he has any...but he doesn't) to save Beth. I guess Josef is a lame 400 yr old vamp who doesn't like action and is just a waste of space.

He's 400 yrs old, and he gives me the impression that he is the vamp leader in the city of L.A. So instead of showing those lowly vamps not to make trouble in his city, he lets em' and lets Mick do all the work. So much for Josef's so called rules and principles....lame. Lame Josef.

And Mick, no offense but...can't you at least ask help from ur other vamp friends to help you? Or maybe you're like Josef, both of you don't have much friends....moreless
  • The whole episode was great but the last five minutes.... well that's why I watch Moonlight!

As each episode progressed this season, the chemistry between Mick and Beth just kept getting better and better. This episode was no exception! I can't believe they cancelled this show and I hope someone picks it up soon. I can't go on watching clips on youtube over and over again for the rest of my life!! When there is so much on tv that isn't worth watching, why wouldn't someone pick up this series which is for over 8 million people around the world? Fated to pretend had classic moonlight plot line, chemistry and music and shows us why this show deserves to be picked up for season two.moreless

  • TRIVIA (5)

    • Goof: When Mick turned back into a vampire, the cuts on his face healed very quickly but he for some reason still had his lip split, which didn't heal until later in the episode.

    • When Beth and Mick entered Maureen's apartment, Beth said that the police would be coming soon. Then when they found the USB drive, instead of getting out right away they sat down to check what was inside.

    • When Beth returns from the beach to her apartment it is daylight, as seen from her window. When Maureen calls her a few minutes later asking her to come to Buzzwire, it is dark.

    • Mick asks Beth to come over for dinner on a date "tonight" but they for some reason end up not having their date until the next night.

    • Goof: During the beach scene, Alex O' Loughlin's Australian accent slips through while talking with Beth.

  • QUOTES (13)

    • Mick: (as a human) I'm actually gonna have to chase this guy? ... Crap.

    • Beth: I don't know what to say about what you did for me. What you gave up. Part of you must hate me.
Mick: I could never hate you.
Beth: Yeah, but you're back to being a vampire.
Mick: I don't have any regrets. Okay?
Beth: None? Yeah, this isn't exactly how I pictured our date either.
      Mick: What do you mean?
Beth: You know what I mean. I'm human, you're a vampire. We're right back where we started.
Mick: I just - I just don't want you to get hurt.
Beth: Maybe you're afraid of getting hurt. I know what it's like to lose people you love. But it's part of life.
Mick: Relationships between humans and vampires-
Beth: Are difficult, dangerous, and complicated. I know, you told me. If you hadn't of been a vampire, I'd have died today, I'd have died 23 years ago. Being a vampire isn't all you are. It's not what's keeping us apart. It's just you. (Mick kisses Beth)

    • Mick: At the funeral, you were wearing his ring.
Beth: Yes. Yes I was. But um, I realized that even if he had proposed to me, I wouldn't have been able to say yes.
      Mick: Why not?
Beth: There's someone else. Has been for awhile. I care about him a lot. And ... I think it's time he figured out what he's gonna do about it.

    • Bonnie: Are you going to jump, too?
Mick: I'd rather not. I've never even had a Krispy Kreme donut.

    • Mick: You wanna come over to my place for dinner tonight? I've uh, figured out how to work the oven.
Beth: You're gonna cook me dinner?
      Mick: Yeah I'm gonna try.
Beth: Are you asking me out on a date?
Mick: Isn't that what humans do?

    • Mick: (about his relationship with Beth) Just gimme a chance to figure it out.
Beth: Just don't take too long. You may have forever, but I don't.

    • Josef: (appearing out of nowhere) What are you doing?
      Mick: Don't do that!
Josef: What? Use my crafty vampire abilities to sneak up on you?

    • Mick: Beth's editor Maureen Williams was killed a few hours ago.
Josef: (to Beth) I'm sorry. Am I a suspect? (Beth gives him a look.) Cool. It's like roleplaying without the leather.

    • Mick: Why are you here?
Josef: Guillermo called me, said you were about to do something extremely stupid, I said: "Wait, that can't be the Mick that I know!"

    • Mick: (voiceover) It's been 55 years since I've slept in a bed. Felt the softness and warmth of pillows and blankets. Do I miss sleeping in an industrial freezer? Would you?

    • Beth: When was the last time you had a donut?
      Mick: 1952.
      Beth: Two words, Krispy Kreme.

    • Mick: (asking Josef to turn him) You think this is easy for me? This ... is not easy. Okay? I don't have a choice.
Josef: What you're asking me to do is-
Mick: Listen to me! Alright? He has Beth. He has my Beth. So please, please brother.
      Josef: Mick. Forgive me.

    • Beth: (to Mick) Breaking and entering was much more fun when you were a vampire. It's a shame you can't still do that sexy vampire jumping thing.
Mick: Yeah, well the jumping thing was kinda tied to the whole blood sucking thing.
