  • David's brother Richard shows up with big money to spend. Turns out the money has strings attached. And some very bad people attached, as well.

David’s brother Richard rolls into town loaded with new money. How did he get it? Honest Dave shows up to the office loyally, if not punctually, every day; meanwhile, Richard skates along on get-rich-quick schemes. The visitor offers to take the detectives out for dinner, and there’s no way David can feasibly turn him down.

Of course, Richard does not say he lucked into the money after someone (unbeknownst to him, a criminal on the run) stashed it in his car. He is not about to stop enjoying the proceeds.

They go to dinner. Richard enjoys a lovely dance with Maddie. Lovely, that is, to everyone except the incensed David, watching from the sidelines.

David is reduced to begging Richard for money to help Maddie pay her property taxes.

Next day at Blue Moon, David makes up a fib about getting the supply from a secret company account. Agnes innocently reminds him there is no such thing. David snaps under the pressure and verbally tears poor Agnes’ head off. He then races to the men’s room, where he throws almost everything in there clean off the moorings. Finally he realizes how crazy this is and stops.

Just his luck, who should walk into the restroom but the criminal Navarrone, looking for the man he thinks is Richard Addison. The only one around at the time is David. Navarrone doesn’t exactly have the patience to check driver’s licenses, so poor David gets an unwilling ‘shampoo’ and drubbing by mistaken identity. The thug demands the return of his money. Once Navarrone leaves, David is all too happy to keep that goal in mind.

Back at the office, Miss Dipesto certainly hasn’t forgotten her boss’ unfair outburst. She returns the favor but good. Agnes is often the voice of reason, sticking up for justice for the ‘little guy,’ or gal, and this is one of her best scenes. She wins an apology out of David and everything’s fine again on that front.

Richard is still free with the cash and gifts, and still spending time with an amused if not completely charmed Maddie. David breaks down the door and drags his renegade sibling to the carpet. A shocked Maddie tries to save her lamps and things off a table. When the fight’s over, it looks like the safest thing to do is give back the money. Off to the mall to return things.

The gun-wielding dealer catches up with them, and they scurry to avoid a sudden case of lead poisoning, if you know what I mean. Sometimes the only way to save something is to lose it, however, and what they do with the cash probably made it one of the happiest days in the mall patrons’ lives.

The police take care of Navarrone. Richard heads home. David picks up some nice reward money, which he gives to Maddie to keep the wolves away from her door.

Another day, another dollar, another scrape with his weird but endearing family and the first of his many attempts to provide for the woman he is just beginning to realize he loves. It’s a full day for our man at the office.moreless
  • David’s brother Richie visits David and Maddie to show of his new “found” fortune. Maddie is smitten with Richard much to David’s chagrin. David finds out Richie’s money isn’t on the up and up and comes to the aid of his brother with Ms. Hayes in tow.moreless

This episode is a female viewers dream. Adorable David Addison will borrow money from his unreliable brother just to keep Maddie solvent. Business IS pleasure, kids! This episode tells us yes, David not only wants to have sex with Maddie, but he actually loves her, too. I loved how both brothers are unlikely relatives (in the looks department) but they both really knew how to jive! (see Richie’s opening singing and dancing scenes –LOL!) The ending was great when Maddie told David that his brother was only worthy of an airport drop-off in her book. Now we know Maddie also cares for David and will hold out for him until the time is right. Well-written, highly enjoyable episode.moreless
  • David's brother comes to visit after finding a lot of money and wins Mattie's approval.

This is one of my favorite episodes. Just plain fun! The episode has Mattie falling for David\\\'s loser brother. David is sad but jealous and \\\"sells\\\" Mattie for money. The money turns out to be stolen and belongs to Navarone aka The Guns of Navarone. The mall sequence is really enjoyable.
