This episode starts out with a man finding out his wife has died and deciding to hire a hitman to take his own life because he doesn't want to live without her. Problem is, when he's at his lawyer's office trying to finalize his will, he looks out the office window and sees his wife, who's apparently not dead after all. He now wants to cancel the hitman's services but is afraid and not sure how to do it, so he heads to the Blue Moon Detective Agency. David and Maddie take the case and go talk to the woman who set up the hit for him. The hit is eventually canceled and the man is eternally grateful to David and Maddie, that is, until he gets in his car and it blows up! In the midst of all this, first, Maddie and David bicker and banter about going to a wedding together (which ends up not happening due to the case) and then about Maddie wanting to return the money they received from the man to his estate, because she feels they didn't earn it. (David objects, but they return it anyway.) After they return the money, in walks a woman claiming to be the dead man's supposed-to-be dead wife, who explains that she faked her own death to get away from her husband's obsessive, oppressive love and that she has no intention of inheriting any of her now-dead husband's estate. Talking to this woman makes Maddie and David wonder who is going to inherit the money. The wife explains that her husband had no heirs, even though the lawyer had earlier referred to him as having heirs. This makes David and Maddie very suspicious, so they decide to go confront the lawyer. What results from this encounter is one of the best ending chase/fight sequences ever on this show, with music and inspiration from some of the era's most iconic movies, lincluding Star Wars and Jaws. Maddie and David (and the show's writers) at their best!moreless
