And so the story continues. Maddie & David, still at odds with each other concerning the fate of the Detective Agency, team up to find out what it is about the watch that everyone wants. As it happens, it leads to a hidden stash of diamonds, but everyone who's interested in the watch seems to end up dead.As would become commonplace with Moonlighting, the plot is only part of the reason we're watching. The main reason is the two chalk-and-cheese characters sparring like a couple of prize-fighters. And they're absolutely expert at it. No other TV couple has come close to the dynamic these two characters had, with the possible exception of "The X-Files"' Mulder and Scully. One-liner after one-liner is fired with absolute precision at the audience and it's pure joy to listen to. Even now, over 20 years after it first aired, it's still light years ahead of stodgy, oh-so-serious fare such as "Law & Order". A fantastic start to a terrific, milestone slice of television, and the most original show of it's kind. You'll be back for more.moreless

    • David: You're thinking about all the crummy things I did to you. I ruined your date with Dr. Face Fixer, Entertainment Tonight, stealing your watch. Well, that was the old me. That was the me before I realized the value of a partner. A real partner. A person you can depend on with your life. You don't play with people like that, you don't lie to people like that. And you don't put pressure on people like that.

Maddie: David, I told you, I'm just going to have to think about it.

David: How long do you think you have to think about it?

      Maddie: At least a day.

David: A day? A whole day? Why don't you just think about it right now? I'll go in the other room, I'll read the paper again.

    • David: I'm gonna go now. Get out of this garage, and out of your life.
(Starts walking) Here I go. (Looks back)

      Maddie: Goodbye.

      David: This is me going!

      Maddie: Good!

      David (incredulous): Goodbye!

      Maddie: Goodbye!

    • Maddie (to reporters): Stick around, there's going to be another murder.
