The killer: Murray Schultz, the victim: Greg Schultz.
Greg is Police Constable and Murray is Greg's older brother and a stand-up comedian. With Oscar Vega having been promoted to Staff Sergeant, Angie and new partner, Det. Brian Lucas, along with newly arrived Det. Mitch Kennecki, investigate Greg's death, which at first appears to be a suicide.
The killer: Neville Montgomery, the victim: Maria Snow
Maria is Neville's Director of Communications. Her body is found atop a parked car, having fallen from the seventh floor of a heritage building recently purchased by Neville. Although the detectives suspect Neville is behind Maria's death, all evidence leads to Neville's son, Robert, who is subsequently arrested. The investigation also shines a light on the relationship between Sgt. Cross and Deputy Chief Halford. After the case is closed, the team comeds together to support Det. Vega, who is headed into a very risky surgery.
The killer: Lawrence Frampton, the victim: Rick Wyatt
Lawrence is a collections agent who is grieving the death of his wife, Helen. Rick is an insurance adjuster whose dead body is found in the driver's seat of his car, which is parked at his his workplace. As the investigation unfolds, the detectives are unable to find Rick's widow, Lisa, making her a suspect. It also turns out that the Wyatts and Framptons are neighbors in a housing development and have a history. Meanwhile, Det. Vega learns more about his illness.
The killer: Charlie Monahan, the victim: Ken Leung
Charlie is a social worker and Ken is one of the leaders of the Golden Tiger Triad gang, the largest in the city. When Ken's bullet ridden body is found in his home, two other murder victims' bodies are also discovered. Detectives Flynn, Vega and Lucas each take point on one of the investigations. Eventually, Betty ties the three killings together with forensic evidence.
The killer: Ashley Kirkwell, the victim: Dr. Garrison Osgood
Ashley is the former owner and operator of a strip club called the Blu Lounge, which was formerly called Purgatory. Garrison is a successful plastic surgeon who, in partnership with Dr. Lucy Everhill, owns a private clinic. The detectives are called to the clinic when the body of Dr. Everhill is found. While there, they encounter Dr. Osgood, who is still alive, albeit barely, covered in blood and holding a knife. He dies in front of the detectives uttering 'Purgatory' as his final word. This instantly makes him the chief suspect in Dr. Everhill's murder. Also, Angie talks to Sgt. Cross about her suspicion that she is being followed.
The killer: Stacy Lawford, the victim: Nika Reid
Stacy works for an online gossip blog called Wicked City while Nika is an assistant to well-known but sleazy photographer Eric Sharpe. Stacy and Nika are also best friends and roommates. Upon awakening after a night of partying, Eric finds Nika's dead body in his bed. He can't remember what happened the night before and when the murder weapon is tested for fingerprints, only his are on it. Combined with Eric's lack of cooperation with police, he becomes their prime suspect. Meanwhile, Sergeant Gavin Saunders of Internal Affairs continues his investigation into the Neville Montgomery case.
The killer: Joe Hillis, the victim: Ginelle Mercier
Ginelle is a free-spirited tarot-card reader whose clients include Joe's sister Elizabeth. Joe is a brew-master who on the verge of opening his own brewery, which is a joint project of his and Elizabeth's. Ginelle's body is found hidden behind wood paneling in a vacant warehouse. Because of the condition of her body, she died anywhere from 10 months to a years ago, leaving detectives with a lengthy timeframe to investigate. Meanwhile, Oscar finally tells Angie about his health issues.
The killer: Brad Calgrove, the victim: Chelsea Richmond
Chelsea is a pastry chef and Brad is a pilot. Chelsea is found frozen to death in the freezer of her rental home. Because of the freezing, Betty cannot give a time of death leaving the detectives to narrow a six-month window in which Chelsea died.
The killer: Wesley Hillridge, the victim: Perry Doyle
Perry and Wesley, who is only 14, are both street artists. Wesley looks up to Perry and is sure he is Contagion, the highly regarded and anonymous artist who he wants to apprentice under. Perry's bruised and broken body is found dangling from an overpass and the dectectives surmise that he was hit by a passing truck while working on the side of the overpass. Meanwhile, a brave faced Betty continues to deal with the aftermath of her bring attacked in the morgue.
The killer: Ella Rollins, the victim: Lee Ward
Ella is a florist married to security guard Blair Morton. Blair helps out Lee, who ran out of gas. For their kindness, Lee invites Blair and Ella to a party at his home. Later, Lee, along with a security guard, is found dead at an armored truck robbery where Blair is the other guard. Blair tells the police that Lee was about to kill him when he literally dropped dead in front of him. Meanwhile, Angie continues her investigation into Neville Montgomery and Betty is attacked in her morgue.
The killer: Wayne Hobbs; the victim: Peter Glass
Peter works for a digital security company and lives with his stay-at-home wife and their sixteen year old daughter, Sophie. Wayne is a general contractor who built a patio for the Glasses. Meanwhile, Angie continues her investigation into the Derek Caster murder while Sgt. Cross is keen to spend more time in the field.
The killer: Robin Gould; the victim: Geoff Armstrong
Robin is an architect who works for a firm run by her fiancee Isaac Griffin and Geoff is an urban planner who works for the city and teaches scuba diving in his off time. Detectives Flynn and Vega are first called in to investigate the disappearance and presumed murder of Robin, who, two days earlier, had called off her engagement. Robin's car is found in a remote area containing her blood. During their investigation, the team talks to Isaac concerning his missing ex-fiancee and discover a connection to Geoff, who is responsible for granting a variance from the city to allow construction on one of Isaac and Robin's prize developments to proceed. Meanwhile, Vega struggles with his upcoming weapons re-certification test.
The killer: Stephanie Carson, the victim: Erica Grey
Stephanie is a financial adviser with a daughter named Madison. Erica, is a housewife and high end escort who uses her life coaching business as a front. She is found on the floor of the bathroom with a puncture wound in her neck and the word 'slut' written across her forehead, leading the detectives to question the men on her client list.
The killer: Derek Caster, the victim: London Montgomery
London is the daughter of wealthy industrialist Neville Montgomery. She is now six months removed from drug rehabilitation and has kept herself clean. She wants her upcoming birthday party to double as a drug facility fundraiser. After the party, she is found dead in an alley from drug poisoning. Derek is a 'fixer,' a man paid to make problems disappear. Additionally, Vega has to recuse himself from the case when he discovers that the victim's last contact was with his father, Franco.
The killer: Doug Slater, the victim: Samantha Turner
Samantha is a prosecutor who is also Sergeant Mark Cross' girlfriend. She is the lead prosecutor in the upcoming trial against the League of Nations gang which Mark infiltrated in a two-year undercover assignment. Doug Slater was also involved in taking down the gang and, in addition, was the first responder in a shooting ten years ago. The officers on the scene were Angie Flynn and Mark Cross and the truth of what really happened there has haunted Angie and Mark to the present day.
The killer: Dustin Hess, the victim: Lori Oliver
Lori is a successful, best-selling crime novelist, while Dustin is a creative writing professor at Langara College. He thinks very little of Lori's work and puts it down most any chance he gets. When Lori collapses and dies at a book signing and Betty soon determines that she was poisoned. The poison is slow acting and symptoms can take up a 20 days to show, leaving the detectives with a lengthy timeline to investigate.
The killer: Bryce Kovack; the victim: Joey Dunkamp
Dunkamp is a successful high-end real estate agent who is found shot in the chest from close range at his posh office. Bryce, his brothers Brent and Donnie and their sister Erin, are an extremely tight-knit family who, now that their parents have passed, still share the home where they grew up. Erin is home from college. As the team begin to look into the life of Joey Dunkamp, they soon realize that he was involved in a series of shady loans and odd arrangements with his various clients.
The victim: John Rivera; the killer: Isabelle Flores
John, the the chairman of the Green Point Equestrian Centre, is found trampled to death in the stables. The death may have been ruled accidental but, in her autopsy, Betty found huge quantities of the animal tranquilizer ketamine in his system. Had the horse not trampled John, the ketamine would have killed him. Isabelle is the nanny to Becky Hill, who, with her mother Victoria, are the newest members of Green Point.
The victim: Barb Birk; the killer: Sasha King
Barb was the owner of her own diner, in whose kitchen her charred remains were found. Sasha in an ex-employee of Barb and currently lives and works at a women's shelter. The fire was started in the early morning on a day that the diner was closed. Suspicion initially falls on the victim's son, Jason Birk, whose lighter was used to start the fire.
