Shiri Appleby was originally cast in the role of Lori. Writer/creator Wayne Lemon had seen Marnette Patterson on the series "Something So Right" and had her in mind for playing Lori, but she was unavailable when the pilot of "Movie Stars" was filmed. By the time "Movie Stars" went into production, "Something So Right" had been canceled, so the role of Lori was given to Patterson, who reshot Appleby's scenes.
