Nick Magnus is clearly characterized as a mobster by enacting the familiar gesture of coin flipping, made iconic by George Raft in the classic 1931 movie "Scarface." Here, the police try to pin the murder on Magnus because they recognize the gesture as belonging to someone who identifies himself outside of the law.
While unsuccessfully hitch-hiking, Pam lifts the edge of her skirt to attract a driver's attention, much like the famous scene in the classic 1934 movie "It Happened One Night," starring Claudette Colbert and Clark Gable. Here, just as in the movie, the appeal works to secure them a ride.
Don't miss this episode if you want to see a very young, beautiful, and blonde Carolyn Jones--remembered fondly for her role as Morticia Addams, on "The Addams Family."
