Mr. Prince is a 2009 television documentary that paints a portrait of legendary Broadway producer Howard "Hal" Prince by compiling archival footage of his work and interviews with some of the biggest names in show business, including Carol Burnett, Angela Lansbury, Sir Andrew Lloyd Weber, Liza Minnelli, Mandy Patinkin, and Hal Prince himself. Hal Prince has dedicated his life to furthering the art of the stage play. Over the course of his long career, he's earned twenty-one Tony Awards, setting the record for the most Tony Awards won by an individual. The shows he's put on include Damn Yankees (1956), Fiddler on the Roof (1965), Follies (1971), Sweeney Todd (1979), Evita (1980), and The Phantom of the Opera (1988). His productions are famous for resisting any and all trite or cliché elements, as well as offering original takes on romance and musical routines that benefit the show's story.
