Mr. Ramsbottom is a children's television program that integrates computer-generated imagery with marionettes. The director and producer is internationally acclaimed puppeteer Ronnie Burkett, whose extensive experience includes dozens of live marionette shows throughout Europe and the United States. Burkett also designed Mr. Ramsbottom's marionettes, which are very intricate and quite lifelike. The protagonist of this program is a young schoolboy named Gordon, who is mercilessly taunted by the bizarre-looking and nefarious Mr. Ramsbottom, who loves scaring small children. Gordon, however, isn't about to put up with it and starts to vigorously harass Mr. Ramsbottom in revenge. The boogeyman and the boy prove to be well-matched enemies; neither is able to triumph over the other for very long, and their battles quickly escalate into hilarious and bizarre schemes of trickery and deception. Mr. Ramsbottom is a constantly evolving pastiche of comedy and mystery; the program also has horror elements, but is intended for children of all ages.
