  • A few good jokes couldn't lift the episode to the top of comedy but the engaging relationship that chronicled through out the episode was well worth the watch.

We're pretty sure Lizzy Caplan could have chemistry with a doormat so it wasn't all too surprising that the first conversation with Matthew Perry's Ben had us hooked. What's admirable is that the character of Vivian is introduced, waved into the story and exited all within the span of twenty minutes. The story of Ben and Vivian is what most cliche summer comedies with A-listers are made of. Only more refreshing to see the story pan out so wonderfully between two great comedians in a fast pace without losing any of the charm. In fact, the episode sells Ben's transition from ladies man to someone who's ready for more so well that there's no sense of something the writers want to press in your face. Instead, it's welcome and natural. And if that wasn't enough, the episode offers character development for Roman and his mother too. A fun side story that has the heart, but missed the boat on any good jokes. A combination that could've made this episode golden. The feel of the finale is right, but for a comedy, especially with so many great comedies on TV, there were simply not enough laughs. Though the final scene with Alonzo was an awesome punchline.
