  • What was this?

    6.1
This was my 1st VMAS and I watched in horror as the persenters presented the people who presented the award, who then presented the person who was performing. This was a dis-organized mess that was not going anywhere. With no really colorful ways of presenting awards and failed punchlines and one-liners, this is one VMA I'm likely to never forget.
  • How could it possibly get any worse?

I think P. Diddy, Puffy Daddy, or whatever name he elects to go by today or tomorrow, has set a record that will be almost, if not entirely, impossible to break ... the worst host of any award show in history. I thought it would take the second coming for me to long for Billy Crystal and his endless Jack Palance jokes that kept his comedy on life-support for several years. Apparently I was wrong, as it did not take the second coming, just P. Diddy.

Virtually all of the artists and songs heralded at the Awards Show lack profound talent, meaning, and most importantly, heart. Of course, blame should not be directed at the artists as much as the music producers and record labels who nowdays seek quantity not quality, trends not talent.

Kelly Clarkson ... as far as her talent as a singer is concerned, she would make a great stripper. Granted, she has a nice figure and was blessed with a nice, round behind, but none of that equates to musical talent. All of the dancing and water sports during her performance were designed to take attention away from her musical talents, or lack thereof.

Missy Elliot should lay off the cupcakes and waddle herself into Trim Spa. Her talents as a musical artist would appeal only to Helen Keller. It doesn't take talent to dress like a Hollywood Blvd. streetwalker and curse and swear like a sailor.

And just for good measure, let's reiterate the fact that P. Diddy was by no small margin the worst host of any show in history. Even a stuck up, self-serving, ugly, toothpick figured, border-line retarded, invalid like Paris Hilton would have been better than Puffy Daddy. To be perfectly honest, I am not sure how he managed to get into that building, what with his continent-sized ego. Perhaps someone should clue him in to reality before that ego gets any larger, if that is even possible at this point.moreless
  • They just keep Getting worse, Or I am getting old.

I think that each year has quickly become a bigger disappointment. for 3 or 4 years now, I get excited that fall is coming and its time for the VMA's. I remember the days of Eddie Murphy hosting, all the way up to Jimmy Fallon, and Chris Rock. I couldn't help but think when scanning through the show, because parts of it were unbearable, that these are the people that are looked up to these days, and I haven’t ever seen so many posers in one place before. American Idiot, by Green Day, is a true analogy of what our country has become, controlled by the media. Enormous egos are the rulers of the music industry today, and people should learn to be their own person, and be proud of their own individuality.
