2008's Video Music Awards will be hosted Live from Paramount Studios in Hollywood, CA. Performers include Travis Barker, DJ AM, Jonas Brothers, Kid Rock, Lil Wayne, Lupe Fiasco, Paramore, Katy Perry, Pink, Rihanna, T-Pain, T.I., The Ting Tings.

Where was the excitement? The VMA's were so much better in past years, like 2006. After 2006, the VMA's kinda went downhill. Anyway, this year's VMA's was pretty bad, mainly because of the host, Russell Brand. I have never heard of him prior to this event so, I couldn't judge him but, he was a terrible host. He looked dirty, and his hair was gross. He made rude comments, and his accent got annoying. Britney Spears looked great though and I'm happy she won a few awards, I'm surprised I'm saying that because I made a lot of mean comments about her last year. I enjoyed The Ting Ting's performance and that was about it, all the other performances were rushed and awkward. Pink's striped dress was terrible and hurt my eyes. The end.moreless

- Controversies:
  Russell Brand told people to vote for Obama, and called President Bush a "retarded cowboy fella". Also, he joked several times about purity rings, specifically those worn by The Jonas Brothers. Jordin Sparks, who also wears a purity ring, later said on-stage "It's not bad to wear a promise ring because not everybody, guy or girl, wants to be a slut". She was criticized for implying that those who don't wear purity rings or don't abstain are promiscuous.
