  • Those "Not the 70's things" SHOULD include "Dawn"

The crew finds “not 70’s things” scattered around the house in the form of Nintendo, Air Jordan’s and a magazine with Madonna on it. Then, as they sit in their living room with keyboardist “Ron”, discussing forming their own band - I notice that I just saw that sofa at a local thrift store earlier today!

What planet did this “Ron” guy live on in the 70’s ?? He tells the kids that songs were all “cotton candy, sunshine and smiles”. Yuh, like “War”, “3 Dead in Ohio”, “The Night Chicago Died” or countless others reflective of the volatile political issues surrounding the Vietnam War that was going on at the time, the resignation of a president, race riots, protests, sit-ins and 18 year olds getting the vote. Sunshine, smiles and cotton candy…dude’s been too long with the wacky tobaccy, missed an entire decade.

In forming their band they look like the Partridge Family missing their mom. I wish, I wish there was some way to vote “Dawn” off this island! Can’t we just make her go away? Anyway, obviously, no one here is the next American Idol, but they seem to be getting into the spirit of the show and having some fun. I’ve noticed the increasing resemblance between Fez (That 70’s Show) and Andrew.

Finally, back to the “not 70’s things”, by finding them all and getting them out, the kids passed an “Oscar test”. Woo Hoo. By the way, who gave “Dawn” the rose ? No one? So, why is she still here? Doesn’t the way she talks nominate her for some elimination round, somewhere?

As they played (badly) 70’s songs for the two nominated kids, the lack of recognition just seemed unbelievable to me. I only wish I were around in 30 years when the kids of these kids don’t know who M&M was.

So, Linda’s gone, it’s down to four and thankfully the show is nearing an end. I might not feel this way if it weren’t for “Dawn”. Why hasn’t someone tanked her torch yet?
