  • good ensemle cast and introduction to William Windom

This episode is probably an average story but the cast is terrific. This is the first episode with William Windom who plays Sam Breen but goes on to become Cabot Cove's crusty old Doctor Seth Hazlit that we all know and love. The death of a rancher puts his land, home, and daughter's future in jeopardy when it appears he has signed it all over to a strnager. Jesssica, acting on behalf of the bereaved saughter must figure out why he would do such a thing and uncovers another mystery and murder that had been committed to cover it up. The four freinds of the rancher have rallied to try and protect a deep secret from being disclosed. All the while the Texas cattleman whom the deed was willed to and his brassy, arm--wrestling wife need to be proven the phonies that they are to save the ranch. Jessica discovers all of this, even the painful secrets and provides a happy tournout.
