In this episode, we get a deviation from the "Murder, She Wrote" formula. We think we know the identity of the murderer at the outset, and it appears that the focus is going to be on convincing the murderer to reveal herself publicly. However, the "confessed" killer turns out to be innocent of the crime, and there's a new mystery to solve.

It's nice to see Mort, Seth and the Cabot Cove crew. The young priest does a nice job too, playing conflicted about his religious and moral obligations. The true identity of the murderer is set up, and the writers play fair with the clues. It's always great to see the peaceful, idyllic Cabot Cove be revealed as a dark, almost Gothic burg with such malicious intent beneath the surface.moreless
