  • It's more like a film noir "B movie" than an episode of "Murder, She Wrote."

    8.0
With Mike ("Mannix") Connors in the lead, plenty of purple-prose narration and a black-and-white story, "Truck Stop" plays more like a movie from the 1940s than an episode of "Murder, She Wrote." That's not a bad thing, however; but fans expecting the usual fare from Jessica Fletcher might want to look elsewhere.

Jessica is a supporting player in this drama, relayed mostly in flashback by the dying Walter Murray into his tape recorder. Murray is the classic film noir character, arriving in a desolate town and finding trouble with a desperate woman. His hard-boiled narration is a highlight of the show.

Another good Season 5 episode...but be warned that it breaks the "Murder, She Wrote" mold.moreless
