  • Murdoch gets involved with a potential werewolf...

This is a good episode where everyone gets something to do. Murdoch is on the track of a serial killer of the werewolf-motif kind. It seems that all members of a hunting party are being killed by an animal. They track down the last hunting party member alive who is convinced that a wolf is attacking them. But Murdoch finds out its a relative of the guide of the hunting party - who was shot and left for dead by the party - and he was dressing as a wolf. With Crabtree having fun with rumours of werewolves and Brackenreid having some good scenes relating to shooting the 'werewolf' and Julia putting in some good work tip-toeing around Murdoch because of his mixed feelings, this episode is fun to watch. And Enid (Julia's potential replacement) looks like she's finished her run with Murdoch!moreless
  • Another telling glimpse into the past.

I love the way this series gives you a good, old fashioned crime drama and a history lesson at the same time...OK, not necessarily a completely accurate one, but glimpses of a not so enlightened, not SO long ago past. This was a good revenge tale made mysterious and gruesome by its links to superstition, which at the time, would make the subject series of crimes that much more sensational. It also connected those superstitions to long standing though ill informed discriminatory practices, which unfortunately have not completely disappeared in the over hundred years or more since the series was supposed to have taken place.

And then there is INSIPID "Enid". Just when I was convinced she was a goner, "Murdoch" takes that stupid book to that stupid kid and Enid peers around the curtain with that, "oh William, you make me want to try again" look!

Go away Enid! You bug me!

Can't wait until the season-ender next week. Looks like a great match-up between our man Murdoch and Dylan Neal, last seen in the equally wonderful Blood Ties. I love Canadian TV these days!moreless
