    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    FILTER BY TYPE

    • TRIVIA (1)

      • Ben's Assistant: Ben's assistant is a very sturdy unattractive woman prone to interpreting conversations through a sexual prism. Luckily she's armed with mace.

    • QUOTES (4)

      • (Ben grabs the spray bottle Nick has been spritzing him with)
Nick: Careful! Holy water's expensive; it's mixed with the urine of seven virgins.
(Ben looks with absolute disgust and horror at Nick)
        Michael: It's just tap water.
Nick: (to Michael) I asked you to do one thing!

      • Susan: I didn't have one night stands!
Ben: No, you'd never let a bloke get off that lightly.

      • Susan: Have I ever mentioned Kirk Mason?
Ben: Kirk... is he the one who tried to undo your bra in the net ball cupboard?
Susan: No, that was my maths teacher... Miss Hornsey.

      • Nick: Dad, I'm going to need some money to buy petrol.
Ben: No you don't, you haven't got a car to put petrol in.
Nick: Yes I have, yours. I'm using it as a mini-cab.
Ben: Why don't you buy your own petrol?
Nick: Why should I? It's your car.

    • ALLUSIONS (2)

      • Movie: "Taxi Driver"

Nick: Are you talkin' to me? You talkin' to me?

This is the, often parodied, Robert De Niro quote from the 1976 Martin Scorsese film "Taxi Driver".

      • Book/Movie: "The Exorcist"

A scene from the 1973 William Friedkin movie 'The Exorcist' is parodied in this episode and involves Nick mimicing the priest from the film entering the Harper house to the same 'Tubular Bells' music (in this case being played from Michaels' portable stereo). Michael himself is carrying holy water which he uses around the house and on their unsuspecting father. The film was based on the 1971 William Peter Blatty novel.
