Opening with a genuinely laugh out loud line delivered brilliantly by Zoë Wanamaker...

“Did you make it here okay?”

“No, we crashed on the M40 and died”

...this episode is, as usual in My Family a mixture of great comedy and not so great comedy. While the Ben and Susan destroying the flat scenes are very funny, especially the burning pizza scene, the corridor chase sequence becomes tiresome fairly quickly, and the absence of Michael, Janey, Nick, or even Abi (who I hate) is felt throughout.

Still, with more visual gags than normal (wearing sunglasses against the lights in the bedroom, and smashing up bits of the apartment), and set in a different location, “What’s Up, Docklands?” makes a welcome change to the usually house-bound sitcom.moreless

    • Ben: Susan, we don't know anyone in the country.
Susan: We don't know anyone here.
Ben: Yes, but the people we don't know here are more like us. And everyone knows you have to live in the country for 20 years before they'll even say, "good morning." We'll be treated like pariahs.
Susan: You like being left alone.
Ben: Not by country people. Bloody insult!
