  • And that's the way I like it! Enough said, true believers! ;)

One of the craziest animators who ever lived was Tex Avery! He was so crazy, despite creating seven of the craziest cartoon characters that ever lived (Egghead/Elmer Fudd, Daffy Duck, Bugs Bunny, Screwball Squirrel, Hollywood Wolf, George & Junior,) he didn't see any money from them, even though his way of making funny cartoons is highly admired! Well the admiration continues today. But believe it or not, Timothy and Julie Cahill might have done the next to impossible and Out-Tex Averyed Tex Avery! They did it by sending Jake Spidermonkey to an all Plant School! You Can't make that stuff up! They thought he was a Spider Plant! In any case, he tries to fit in (a really hard thing to do,) and Adam Lyon goes to get him back to where he really Should belong! But first, Jake Spidermonkey just Has to try to learn how to photosynthesize and believe it or not, he Succeeds! And what happens when robots try to do an adult animals job? While the animals work down at the car wash where Pixiefrog runs into unfriendly rival Principal Wolverine, Jake & Adam Lyon discover the robots are trying to take out the problem students! Mainly them! So they've got to figure out a way to stop the robots! But the robots might end up stopping themselves when it's revealed they ran on Love and not diesel gas of all things, so they self-exploded! It makes me wonder what other kinds of things this husband-wife team will think up next, as far as wild & crazy animal antics at Charles Darwin Middle School goes! Enough said, true believers! ;)moreless

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (9)

    • Mrs. Warthog's seemingly harmless habit of putting up 'tasteful' photos on the Internet of 'herself' will come back into play in just a couple more episodes in Glazed and Confused.

    • When the Robots Self-Destructed, the Wizard was nowhere in sight.

    • End Credits: Jake is just waiting in a classroom with sunglasses on while the orchestral song Blue Danube plays.

    • If you look at the pot pie package that Principal Pixiefrog puts into the microwave in The Ivy League, the package says that the brand is a Tom Sheppard's Pie. This is a reference to one of the people who helped co-write this episode.

    • Nathaniel Penguin makes an appearance in Jake's flashback.

    • Principal Pixiefrog thought Adam was an actual lion before Mrs. Warthog told him he was a human.

    • Third appearance of Principal Wolverine.

    • Jake Spidermonkey somehow manages to learn how to do photosynthesis (Turn Green.) in this episode, despite the fact that he's not a plant!

    • Running Gags in this episode: 1. In The Ivy League various characters drop coffee cups whenever anybody says or does something shocking. 2. In Robo Frog 3000, various characters call robots, "Robit's," and Principal Pixiefrog has to correct their pronunciation.

  • QUOTES (5)

    • Robot Pixiefrog: (Flies into the office with a bag with Jake and Adam in it) Boys, I'm concerned. Nurse, help me, I'm sick! D'oh, dye, d'oh, d'eh!

    • Principal Wolverine: Bad news everybody! Coporate called, they said the car wash has decided to go with a fully automated, all robit system, so everyone is fired! Including me! Cyrus Q. Hornbill: Stupid car wash, I've got nowhere else to go! Eugenia Tusk: Let's sue them fancy robits! Principal Pixiefrog: How many times do I have to tell you, it's ROBOTS?!

    • School Board Leader: You may have won this round Principal Pixiefrog! But I'll be back to ruin your fun, for no reason whatsoever! Good day, sir!

    • Jake to Adam: Remember when this show used to be about a human kid going to an all animal school?

    • Jake to Adam: I'm offended that we're viewed as problem students.

  • NOTES (0)

  • ALLUSIONS (5)

    • Seal or No Seal: comparison of NBC's "Deal or No Deal".

    • Jake Spidermonkey to the plants: You like me! You really like me!
This is the exact same thing said in a speech to the local audience by Sally Field when she won a Best Actress Emmy Award in 1985.

    • The Ivy League Blackboard Gag: We've got a gorilla for sale.
This is the exact same hook used by Mr. Peebles in Hanna-Barbara's 1964 The Magilla Gorilla Show in an attempt to sell Magilla Gorilla to anyone interested in buying the Gorilla, but it never quite worked out for various reasons.

    • The janitor is the just-like-it's-named Roomba, a robotic vacuum similar to a flat disk, vacuuming up dust going forward and turning in random directions.

    • Principal Pixiefrog makes a reference to Geico, the car insurance company, when he says "The good news is I saved 15% on my car insurance".
