Applejack, Rainbow Dash
Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie
The blanket that Spike uses to wrap up his things when he's about to go to the migration is the same one that Applejack gave him in "Secret Of My Excess."
Cranky Doodle Donkey from "A Friend in Deed" helps Spike partially on his journey.
Rarity calls Spike "Spikey-wikey", just as she did in "Secret of My Excess".
When we see the photo of Twilight with baby Spike, she looks about the same age as she is right now. But in "The Cutie Mark Chronicles", we see that Twilight was just a filly when Spike hatched.
Two of the photos shown while Spike is writing his letter to Princess Celestia show scenes from the episodes, "Luna Eclipsed" and "The Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000". Also, another photo shows baby Spike as the same way he looked during Twilight's flashback in "The Cutie Mark Chronicles".
The two dragons from the episodes, "Dragonshy" and "Owl's Well that Ends Well" can be seen standing on the cliffs when Spike arrives.
Rainbow Dash: Look, Fluttershy. I watched that boring butterfly migration with you, so now it's your turn to watch the dragon migration with me. You owe me.
Fluttershy: I said NO! (tackles Rainbow Dash to the ground and runs away)
Rainbow Dash: Okay, I guess I'll let you off the hook this time.
Rarity: Goodbye, Spikey-wikey!
Rainbow Dash: Go get 'em, big guy!
Twilight Sparkle: We have faith in you!
Rarity: (under her breath) We're following him, right?
Twilight Sparkle: Of course.
Spike: (to baby phoenix) Hey, welcome to the family, Peewee. Stick with me, I've got plenty to teach you about being a Pony!
Garble: Spike, are these namby pamby ponies your friends?
Spike: Yes, they are, and they're better friends than you could ever be. Now, if you don't back off, you'll see what us ponies do when confronted by a huge group of jerky dragons.
Garble: Oh, yeah? What's that?
Spike: RUN AWAY!
Rarity: (About Spike) Fighting's not really my thing, I'm more into fashion, BUT I'LL RIP YOU TO PIECES IF YOU TOUCH ONE SCALE ON HIS CUTE LITTLE HEAD!
Friendship Report: Spike learned that discovering who he is, is not the same as discovering what he is and that he is proud to live in Ponyville and consider his pony friends his family.
This episode revolves around Spike.
