  • That was a great way to start 2012

Oh the nostalgia of being a newbie way back then. We just discussed this episode at Babble with Bronies. Here comes the flashbacks of Granny Smith and her family. Highly recommended. 10/10
  • Applebloom is being redundant in this episode...

I think in the other episodes too. "What are you, a dictionary?" talks that point. Anyways, it was nice, except for Diamond Tiara. *glares at her*
  • An excellent new way to start the second half of season 2

I have to say that when I learned we would have an episode about Granny Smith, I was a bit skeptic since I had no idea what they would do. As it turned out though, this episode proved to be another excellent episode and a perfect way to start the second half of season 2. So the episode begins with Granny Smith getting Applejack, Applebloom, and Big Macintosh ready for Zap Apple Season, a time when magical apples grow on the trees. Applebloom is given a chance to help out with Granny Smith, but when Diamond Tiara comes along to tell her she's being embarrassed, she starts having doubts. Things get worse for Applebloom when it's Family Appreciation Day and Granny Smith has to come to school. Applebloom enlists the aid of Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo to stop Granny from coming, but each one of their attempts fail. On the day of Family Appreciation Day, Granny Smith comes to tell the class that her family were once pilgrims and that Princess Celestia gave them a large part of land to set up a farm there. At first the family has a hard time setting up since there was barely any food, but when Granny Smith goes into the Everfree Forest, she finds some Zap Apples. She took some of the seeds and went back to plant them, and before the family knew it, there were apple trees everywhere. Ponies from all over came along to buy the apples and some stayed, resulting in the land turning into the town of Ponyville. The whole class is awed by this and decide to help Granny Smith with the Zap Apples. Applebloom learns that her Granny Smith is special, but sometimes forgets about it. Our episode ends with Diamond Tiara being forced to help in the Zap Apple Harvest while Applejack and Applebloom laugh. This was an excellent episode all around. I loved how Granny Smith was acting throughout the episode and that she founded Ponyville with her family. I also enjoyed the Cutie Mark Crusaders' attempt to stop Granny Smith from coming, and those zap apples were awesome. My only issue is that there was no Friendship Report at the end. This is one of the best, and a must see for all.

    FINAL SCORE: 10/10
  • Diamond Tiara is the reason why my score lowered to a 9.5

It's Zap Apple season, and Granny Smith is acting a little kookier than normal. Apple Bloom becomes self-conscious about her granny when a fellow classmate points out her eccentricity and becomes worried about having her visit... more the school during Family Appreciation Day. It's up to Apple Bloom and her friends to prevent Granny Smith's attendance, a potentially terribly embarrassing experience. I thought that this was an excellent episode of "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic". It is WAY better than the previous episode "Hearth's Warming Eve" and it's the best I've seen in a while since the past one a half months have giving me some pretty weak MLP: FIM episodes. Darn, I was really hoping to give this episode a 10 but Diamond Tiara did bug me a little and got on my nerves so that lowered my score a little but yeah, it's fantastic for the most part. I'm also glad that they didn't have a Friendship Report in an episode of this show for once. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the Friendship Reports at the end of each episode of this show but I do get kinda annoyed with them after a while so yeah. A lot of parts in this episode were very funny such as Granny Smith's part throughout this entire episode such as when she and Appebloom dressed up as bunnies and hop around and more things she did in this episode, the "Filthy Rich" joke such as the line "Thank you Mr. Filthy" "I prefer Mr. Rich" "Oh sorry", Applebloom and her friends trying to keep Granny Smith away from going to her school on Monday for Family Appreciation Day, and a few more. I was also very impressed and blown away by Granny Smith's story about how Ponyville was found and how she was the reason that there is Ponyville. I'm also glad that Diamond Tiara was proved wrong about Granny Smith (sucks to be you Diamond Tiara :D haha). Overall, an excellent episode of "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic"... hopefully next week's episode will get a 10 from me and it must have NO flaws or just a nit-pick (a.k.a. doesn't really bug me) in order for that to happen. 9.5/10
  • A mixed bag for me.

If in this episode the only character appearing were Granny Smith, this episode would be a winner, unfortunately this wasn't the case. Any of you could say that I hate the crusaders, but is not the case, but also I don't think they are the strongest characters in the show, especially Applebloom in this episode. First by letting Diamond Tiara letting get through her mind, then using Granny Smith as a puppet to deceive Cheerilee, I found it very mildly amusing and a little of bad taste. I completely loved the eccentricities of Granny Smith, but this is not surprising, and how the zap apple jelly is harvested, that's crazy. But the most surprising event in this episode is the story of Granny Smith, that story showed to us how important the Apple family is for Ponyville. The funny thing is that I always consider myself an Apple and I feel more proud to consider myself an Apple.
