The pony selling carrot crapes at the parade is the same pony who sold Fluttershy her tomatoes in "Putting Your Hoof Down."
The mule from the episodes "Applebuck Season" and "Hurricane Fluttershy" returns in this episode.
During the "Babs Seed" song, Babs wears the same wolf costume Scootaloo wore in "Luna Eclipsed".
Sweetie Belle: (Reading from a scroll) We, the Cutie Mark Crusaders, elect Babs Seed to join us as a sister, friend, confidante, alley, boss-om buddy, gal pal, compader, chum of chums..
Sweetie Belle: Well you wrote this.
Scootaloo: Oh, uh, yeah.
Sweetie Belle: (Continues reading) Homegirl, Amiga, (Speeds through it) Blah-blah-blah-blah-blah. Oh yes, here. And fellow Cutie Mark Crusader. You are solemnly sworn, here this day, in witness of your fellow sisters, friends, confidantes, boss-om buddies, compadres..
Scootaloo: Congratulations! Gotta remember to revise that.
Diamond Tiara : Nice float, Babs.
Babs: Snagged it from those whiny baby blank flanks.
Diamond Tiara: Too cool for mule, Babs.
(The mule is seen looking at them with a pair sunglasses on)
Silver Spoon: So you're leaving, huh?
Diamond Tiara: Great. Now we're stuck here with these lame blank flanks.
Babs : Hey! That is not how you talk to my friends!
Silver Spoon: F-friends?
Babs: Yeah. You got a problem with that?
Diamond Tiara: Well what if I do? What are you going to do about it?
Babs: (Silent for a few seconds and then smiles) Tell your mothers about your bad attitudes.
Sweetie Belle : (As Babs is leaving) Sure gonna miss that bad seed.
Applejack: Bad seed? I thought y'all were friends now.
Sweetie Belle: No, see, first we called her 'bad seed' as in actually a bad seed, but now she's bad as in good. Get it?
Applejack : Yea- no.
Apple Bloom: Ya see Babs, we were trying to get you back for being a big bully.
Scootaloo : But then Applejack told us about how you were being bullied back in Manehatten.
Sweetie Belle : And we figured out you were just doing it to avoid getting picked on in Ponyville. But by then, we were the ones being bullies. And...Oh, why does life have to be so ironic?
Scootaloo: I think Babs just went to the dark side.
Sweetie Belle: We have to tell Applejack.
Apple Bloom: No! We are not snitches.
Scootaloo: Yeah, and we are not babies.
Sweetie Belle: Then why do I feel like crying?
This episode is part of the Friends and Family DVD which also includes the episodes, "Maud Pie," "Brotherhooves Social," "Hearthbreakers" and "The Gift of Maud Pie."
The original title for this episode was "Bully For You."
Friendship Report: The Cutie Mark Crusaders learned that if you are being bullied, you shouldn't try to get revenge because then you would become the bully. They also learned that the best way to stop bullying is to tell someone.
Even though all the members of the mane six appear in this episode, Applejack and Pinkie Pie are the only ones who have speaking roles.
This episode revolves around the Cutie Mark Crusaders.
The scene where the Crusaders' are doing superhero poses with capes on is similar to the opening of The Powerpuff Girls.
The Crusaders' second float is a big apple. This is an allusion to New York city where Manhattan (Babs Seed's home town, Manehattan, in the show) is located.
When the Crusaders are in the movie theater, they see animated concessions on the screen before the movie begins. This is a parody on the Let's All Go to the Lobby animated advertisement typically shown before real life theater movies.
The Cutie Mark Crusaders' pumpkin float design is similar to the pumpkin carriage in Disney's version of Cinderella. Also, the float went bouncing around to be destroyed in a similar manner to the way the Disney carriage was created.
Bad Seed: Babs Seed is a pun off of this phrase, meaning one who shows bad behavior.
The music being played while the Cutie Mark Crusaders are building their float is similar to the theme music to the show, The A-Team.
