  • Perfect in every way and funny as well

I found this episode to be an improvement after the rather disappointing Owl's Well that Ends Well. It begins with Pinkie Pie singing a song while inviting her friends to her pet alligator, Gummy, birthday. At the party the friends express how much they love Pinkie's parties and she decides to throw another one. The next morning, Pinkie trying to invite her friends to Gummy's after birthday party, but each say they have work to do. Pinkie soon learns that these are all excuses when Twilight Sparkle comes to get something from Sugarcube Corner. Pinkie follows and hears some things that hurts her. Rainbow Dash passes by saying hello and quickly takes off. Pinkie follows her and asks questions about why her friends didn't want to go to Gummy's party. Rainbow runs into Applejack's barn and Applejack keeps Pinkie out. Pinkie decides to get some pony to confess about what's going on. She takes Spike and interrogates him into confessing about the others. He at first confesses to some things he did by accident, but then tells out of fear that Pinkie's friends don't like her or her parties anymore. Pinkie breaks down and is sad, so she uses some inanimate objects to make her own party guests and slowly goes insane to the point where she doesn't want to see any of her friends again.Rainbow then comes in and sees what's happening and tries to get Pinkie to come to Sweet Apple Acres, but refuses to. Rainbow drags Pinkie towards Sweet Apple Acres and opens the door to see a party with her friends in it. The friends see that Pinkie looks angry and she yells at them that her friends don't want her or her parties. They tell her that it's a surprise party for Pinkie's birthday. Pinkie expresses how bad she was wrong and the friends reassure her that it could've happened to any one of them. Applejack gets the party started and Twilight learns to always expect the best from friends and they'll be there for you. Our episode ends with the girls planning to do Gummy's after birthday party. This was arguably the best episode of season 1 of this show. I loved Pinkie's invitations in the beginning as well as her following Rainbow around. I also found Pinkie's inanimate object friends amusing and the confession scene was great as well. Overall one of the best episodes ever and has plenty of laughs for all.

  • Pinkie Pie shows her dark side in this episode

I thought that this was an excellent episode of "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic". Even though this episode was excellent to me, Pinkie Pie's dark side in this episode was getting kinda scary and weird for me. I never thought I see an episode where Pinkie Pie actually has a dark side. AND she doesn't show her mildly dark side, she shows her very dark side. I may even think Pinkie Pie's dark side might frighten little kids. Anyways, her dark side in this funny and kinda scary at the same time. Pinkie Pie has a party for her friends Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Twilight, Fluttershy, and Rarity and then after Twilight told Pinkie Pie "We should have a party again soon" and that's when Pinkie Pie got the idea of having throwing a party tomorrow. Pinkie Pie goes to all of her friends about the party but they all make excuses and Pinkie Pie starts to get suspicious. The scene with Pinkie Pie chasing after Rainbow Dash and then she is giving her the creepy look was where Pinkie Pie got very dark and kinda crazy. For her dark side, her hair is actually straight and you can see that her pink color got a little darker. Well... yeah, then Rainbow Dash tries to get Pinkie Pie to go to Applejack's barn and that's where they throw her a surprise birthday party. I knew something like that was going to happen, what else would they do? Yeah, Pinkie Pie thinks that it's a farewell party so she won't have to hang out with her friends anymore but the pony gang explained to her that is was all just for her birthday party and it's a surprise. Yep, that's Pinkie Pie's dark side. The funniest part in this episode was Spike's cameo appearance. The scene where Pinkie Pie is making Spike confessiabout the pony gang not wanting to hang out with her. Spike's confession was definitely hilarious. Overall, I never knew I would ever see Pinkie Pie's dark side and it was kinda scary but funny. She isbetter off being a hyper and happy pink pony though. Excellent episode of "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic". 10/10moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (4)

    • The music playing during Pinkie Pie's first party for Gummy, her pet alligator, is very similar to the music used when the Cutie Mark Crusaders are searching for their talents in "The Show Stoppers".

    • Not only does Pinkie Pie's hair deflate when she is depressed, her hair and coat colour darken as well.

    • When Pinkie Pie thinks no-one wants to go to her party, her hair returns to the long straight style it was when she was a filly (As seen in "The Cutie Mark Chronicles").

    • The design for Rainbow Dash's cloud home has changed considerably from its last appearance in "Griffon The Brush-Off".

  • QUOTES (2)

    • Pinkie Pie: I want you to confess.
      Spike: Confess?
      Pinkie Pie: Confess!
Spike: I'm the one who spilled juice all over Twilight's copy of "Magical Mysteries and Practical Potions."
      Pinkie Pie: And?
Spike: And I'm the one who used up all of the hot water in Ponyville yesterday when I took a seven hour bubble bath.
      Pinkie Pie: And?
Spike: And sometimes, when no one's around, I do this. (Takes out a mirror and flexes in front of it) Looking good Spike, looking real good.

    • Twilight Sparkle: (about Gummy's "after-birthday party") I wish I could make it, but I've gotten a bit behind in my studies. I've really gotta hit the books.
Pinkie Pie: I understand. Your studies come first. But don't worry, we'll be sure to save you some cake! (winks)
      Twilight Sparkle: Please do!
Pinkie Pie: Oh, and Twilight? You shouldn't hit the books. You should really just read them!

  • NOTES (4)

    • All the times when Pinkie Pie says the word "losers" during her imaginary party were edited out when this episode aired on Treehouse TV in Canada.

    • The title of this episode could be a reference to the phrases "party of one" and "army of one". "Party of one" is often used when making reservations at a restaurant for a single person; a particularly lonely endeavour. "Army of one" refers to a particularly resourceful and powerful person or "one man army". In this sense, Pinkie Pie has enough party spirit in her that she could be thought as a "party of one".

    • Friendship Report: Pinkie Pie learned to expect the best from her friends, while avoiding the worst, as a good friend can have her best interests at heart.

    • This episode revolves around Pinkie Pie.

    • Pinkie Pie's chant to Gummy, "Go Gummy! It's your birthday!" is reminiscent of the opening lines of 50 Cent's song "In da Club".
