The plight of the Mane Six when they discover the Gala is not all it's cracked up to be gives us a substantial level of humour. The conclusion with Princess Celestia making out that the way they do things round the palace is better than how it was done for the past millenium is a briliant denotion that, when she discovers injustices in her kingdom, she'll see to it potentially by way of a cool and unusual punishment, maybe even a reshuffle of the royal court. >Dmoreless

Aside from Rarity telling her date off and Fluttershys awesome freak out, this episode didn't do much for me. I found it to be somewhat lackluster, as well as lacking humor. As for the musical numbers, the main one was OK, passable I guess. The other two were fairly painful on the ears. Sorry Pinkie.

A perfect way to end season 1 of this show

After 25 episodes of awesomeness we have finally reached the end of season 1 of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. It starts with the ponies and Spike getting ready for the Grand Galloping Gala and expressing their excitement. Twilight Sparkle plans to catch up with things with Princess Celestia. Applejack is preparing her stand to sell treats to help her farm. Rainbow Dash wants to meet the Wonderbolts. Rarity wants to meet the prince and marry him. Fluttershy wants to see the garden and animals. Pinkie Pie wants to party big time. After a musical number the girls go off on their own leaving Spike by himself and to wander by himself. At first everything seems to go as planned for the girls, but overtime it all turns out to be a flop. Twilight barely has time to speak with Princess Celestia. No ponies buy Applejack's treats. Rainbow can't talk to the Wonderbolts since they are busy talking to others. Rarity finds out Prince Blueblood is a selfish jerk who cares about himself only. Fluttershy finds the animals are afraid of her and won't love her. Pinkie finds the party too slow adn boring and tries to spice it up, but fails. Eventually the group meets up and the entire Gala falls into chaos causing Princess Celestia to urge Twilight and the others to run out. At a place called Pony Joe's, Spike is drinking coffee and eating doughnuts by himself and both he and Pony Joe see Twilight and the others come in. Spike is told about what happened at the Gala and Twilight fears for what the princess will say. Princess Celestia then comes and informs that this was the best Grand Galloping Gala ever and tells she wanted Twilight and the others to come since it's always boring there. They all learn that they shouldn't have let their dreams get in the way of friendship and state Spike was right about them just staying together for the night. The episode ends with Princess Celestia telling that even though the night started badly, it ended well with them together. This was a perfect way to end the entire season of Friendship is Magic. I loved the musical numbers in this episode and out of all the things the ponies had done, I loved Fluttershy's part in this episode. I only wish Spike wasn't left out of the Gala and was able to spend time in it instead of being left alone. Overall plenty of good funny moments, excellent musical numbers, and a great plot overall this was the best way to end season 1 of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

Awesome Season 1 finale of "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic"

This is the Season 1 finale of "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic" and it ended on a terrific way. Good-bye Season 1, Hello Season 2. Now, I just have to wait for Season 2 of "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic" to premiere which doesn't start until September 17th, 2011. Anyways, everything about this episode was magical, funny, and creative. Spike's part in the beginning and the end of the episode was funny. Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Twilight, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, and Rarity are having high expectations for the Grand Galloping Gala but things don't turn out the way like they hoped it would be. That song that all six of the ponies were singing was amazing and excellent. It has been stuck in my head ever since but that song was so darn good and the other thing was that this song was actually long. The other songs that were in this show have been short but this song was actually long which made me happy. Pinkie Pie's part in this episode was funny. OMG, Fluttershy's part was hilarious.... he usually see Fluttershy to be only happy and shy BUT Fluttershy was actually angry and crazy in this episode which made it hilarious. It was good to see the angry and crazy side of Fluttershy for once. Applejack's part in this episode was also good. Rainbow Dash's part is pretty good as well but not the most interesting out of this episode. My least favorite part of this episode was Rarity's part, I did not like it when that royal male pony (whose I don't remember) was NOT being a gentlemen and Rarity had to use her clothes, open the door, and all that. I'm gonna let Rarity's part of this episode slide and not take away any points but I did not like that royal male pony. Overall, this was an excellent episode of "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic" and an excellent way to end Season 1. 10/10moreless

- "Hokey Pokey" and "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow": Pinkie Pie's first song for this episode, "I'm at the Grand Galloping Gala", is in the same rhythm as "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow" and her second song, "Pony Pokey", is an obvious pun off of "Hokey Pokey".

- The classic tale of Cinderella is referenced several times in the episode. Notable parallels include Twilight turning an apple and some mice into a carriage and horses to pull it to the gala, very similar to how Cinderella's fairy god mother turned a pumpkin and some mice into a carriage and horses to pull it. The spells in both stories were to only last until midnight.
  
  Also, Rarity nearly leaving a glass slipper behind is reminiscent of what Cinderella did when hastily leaving the ball she was attending. Pinkie Pie even reminds Rarity of how the prince in Cinderella was able to find Cinderella again by finding the woman whose foot fit the lost glass slipper. However, terrified at the thought of meeting with Prince Blueblood again, Rarity smashed the slipper, ensuring that would never happen.
