Out of all the episodes involving the Cutie Mark Crusaders, this has to be the best one for the season. It starts with the three CMC's doing zip lining in an attempt to get their cutie marks, but fail to do so. Tired of their constant failures, the three little fillies go around to find Rainbow Dash to ask how she got her cutie mark, but keep running into her friends. Applejack tells them that she used to not want to work at Sweet Apple Acres and decided to go off to her Aunt Orange and Uncle Orange in Manehattan, but she gets so homesick and sees a rainbow leading back home and runs back to the farm and gets her cutie mark of the three red apples. The CMC then run into Fluttershy who tells that Rainbow Dash was in a race and Fluttershy accidentally fell of a cloud to the ground. She is saved by a group of butterflies save her and sees the other animals and learns to communicate with them. When an explosion that looks like a rainbow occurs it scares the animals, but Fluttershy tells them that it's okay and she finds that she loves animals ad gets her cutie mark of three butterflies. Next the foals run into Rarity who tells that she was designing dresses for a school play and wanted to make them more beautiful. One day Rarity's horn glowed and dragged her to a rock and believes that's her destiny. An explosion though that looks like a rainbow cracks the rock and reveals gems inside of it. Rarity uses the gems to create the costume for the play and gets her cutie mark of three diamond. Next, there's Twilight Sparkle who tells that she was practicing doing an entrance exam for Princess Celestia's Magic Academy. She was tasked to hatch an egg using only magic in front of three judges and her parents, but failed to do so. Just as she's about to leave, an explosion that looks like a rainbow causes Twilight's magic to overload and not only hatch the egg which had a very little baby Spike, but also grow him large and turn the judges and parents into plants. Princess Celestia realizes what's happened and calms twilight down. She is taken as the princess' apprentice and gets her cutie mark of a mgic spark. After sneaking away, the CMC then are joined by Pinkie Pie who tells how she got he cutie mark. Pinkie used to be a rock farmer where none of her family were happy not even her. One day an explosion that looks like a rainbow occurs and Pinkie looks to see a rainbow and gives a big smile. She decides that she wants to make every pony happy and throws her family a party. They are very happy about a party and Pinkie gets her cutie mark of three balloons. The CMC's finally find Rainbow and she tells them that she was in a race to stand up for Fluttershy. While racing she manages to do a Sonic Rainboom that spreads across Equestria which causes Rainbow to get her cutie mark of a cloud with a rainbow lightning bolt on it. The other ponies hear the story and say they got their cutie marks through a sonic rainboom and realize it was Rainbow who gave them their cutie marks. Applebloom and Sweetie Belle look in awe and hug Scootaloo while she screams. Our episode ends with Twilight learning that even friends you don't meet yet can create a special connection. This was the best episode involving the CMC's. I loved all the flash backs and the development the characters were given as well. I also loved Pinkie's joke of how Equestria was made and Twilight's hopping around. Overall, a very fitting episode for this show and one of the best.
