  • Fantastic episode once more!

Like the last episode, this one revolves around the Cutie Mark Crusaders and their attempts to get their cutie marks. It starts with the three CMC's being given an old clubhouse by Applejack and Applebloom fixes it up with how skilled she is in building stuff. In an effort to find their marks, the CMC's decide to go around town and try things like rock climbing, haircuts, and taffy making, but they fail at each one. They soon find out that there is going to be a competition and they decide to enter it in hopes of getting their marks. Scootaloo is in charge of music, Sweetie Belle builds the set, and Applebloom is the dancer. As the night of the performance comes they do a performance that was supposed to be a dance and musical number, but it results in every pony laughing at them. They don't get their marks, but they do win the award for comedy and believe that's what their cutie marks are supposed to be. The episode ends with Twilight saying that one day they will learn their talents. This was a very great episode for all to enjoy. I loved the various attempts of the CMC's to get their cutie marks and their talent act. This was a funny episode and another great CMC's episode for all to enjoy.

    FINAL SCORE: 10/10moreless
  • Applebloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo want to try to find the true meaning in life so they enter the annual talent show to find their talents

I thought that this was an excellent episode of "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic". Just like sometimes in this show, it doesn't focus on the main characters Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Twilight, Rarity, and Fluttershy. This episode focuses on Applebloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo while the main characters of this show are just supporting characters. Applejack and Twilight appear in this episode. Rarity makes two brief cameo appearances in this episode. Rainbow Dash makes a brief cameo appearance at the end of the episode. As for Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy, they were both absent in this episode. Anyways, Applebloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo try to find a talent of their own so they can finally get a cutie mark so Twilight told them about the annual talent show and they all decided to join. There were some funny parts in this episode as well. I laughed when Applejack was showing Applebloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo their old treehouse from when Applejack and the other ponies used to be little and the treehouse was old. Applebloom fixing up the treehouse was nice. The funniest part was Applebloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo's talent at the talent show. The three of them discovering that their true talent is comedy was very funny as well. Overall, an excellent episode of "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic". 10/10moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (4)

    • When the Cutie Mark Crusaders were climbing the rock, Sweetie Belle's eyes are orange and not green.

    • Twilight call the Cutie Mark Crusaders 'my little ponies'. This is a reference to how the franchise was suppose to be called, but it went to be called My Little Pony.

    • Derpy cameo: She is one of the ponies eyeing Scootaloo when she is doing her scooter tricks.

    • When the crusaders are backstage after winning their award, Applejack, Rarity and Rainbow Dash join them to congratulate them. Since Applejack and Rarity are the older sisters of Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle, many fans assumed that Rainbow Dash was Scootaloo's sister. But Lauren Faust mentioned that the two are not related and in later episodes, we learn that Scootaloo is just a admirer of Rainbow Dash.

  • QUOTES (4)

    • Sweetie Belle: Hey Scoot, how's the song going?
      Scootaloo: (blows a raspberry)
Sweetie Belle: (blows a raspberry) Oh, my. Sounds serious.
Scootaloo: I'm just no good with lyrics. Coming up with words is like... really hard.
Sweetie Belle: Oh, they can't be that bad... (reads lyrics) "With our cutie marks, we'll rock Equestria. We use our stomachs to... digest-ia"?

    • Twilight Sparkle: "Ghosts, Goblins and Ghoulish Figures"? Good heavens, girls. what do you need a book like this for?
Scootaloo: You'll see. Thanks Twilight! We'll give it back as soon as we're done with it!
Twilight Sparkle: What do you think they're up to?
Spike: I have no idea, and I don't know if I should be excited or scared to find out.

    • Scootaloo: Okay. That's six wooden planks (four by eight plywood), a box of nails, four cans of paint, and four brushes. Anything else?
Sweetie Belle: Yeah. Instructions on how to use six wooden planks (four by eight plywood), a box of nails, four cans of paint, and four brushes.

    • Applejack: (about her old clubhouse) it just needs a little... TLC.

Scootaloo: TLC as in "Tender Loving Care" or "Totally Lost Cause"?

  • NOTES (6)

    • The title of this episode is likely a play on two different meanings of the term "showstopper". Theatrically, a "showstopper" is an amazing performance worthy of much praise. The Cutie Mark Crusaders plan on having their show appropriately described by the term in this meaning. However, their performance is more reminiscent of the business meaning of the term "showstopper": an issue that prevents the progress of other activities until it can be resolved. This meaning may be more fitting since the talent show seems to act against the crusaders' search for their cutie marks, not for it.

    • Rainbow Dash makes a brief cameo appearance at the end of the episode.

    • Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy were absent in this episode.

    • Rarity makes two brief cameo appearances in this episode.

    • Friendship Report: Apple Bloom, Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle learned to stick with what they know: their hidden talents.

    • This episode revolves around the Cutie Mark Crusaders.
