The conclusion of part one, obviously. Let me just propose these questions to you: Would you have ever imagined Paris Hilton being a guest star in this once fabulous show? Even if the answer to that terrifying question was 'yes,' do you think it would be a sure sign that the show is in dire need of help? I'm hoping that your answers to both questions would be 'YES.' Well, guess what? What I just asked happens to be the case with this 2nd part of this episode, in which Paris Hilton says, 'that's hot' about 5 times, and the rest, as they say, is history.moreless

  • A very uneven episode - yet a return to form after some of the eps this season...

After several happenings with his unconscious body, Earl is finally in Camden County Hospital. This had good and bad parts but the bad parts were minor e.g. Paris Hilton. All they had to do was have her say "That's hot" once at the start and once at the end. The other times she said it was unnecessary. But I loved how they included what was really happening to Earl's dream sequence. Slightly worse than the first part but still a very comical episode. The good parts e.g. the faith healer were very funny and Joy is always on top form. Keep it up!moreless

  • This and the previous episode have been a big return to form for the show - hopefully it'll stay that way

This series of My name is Earl has been all over the place but within the last few weeks it's starting to redeem itself. Earl's sitcom fantasy coma starts to get funnier (I didn't think it was funny last episode) this week with a Paris Hilton cameo. All she does is say 'That's Hot!' a lot but it's still funny. The dialogue is very sharp as well and the listee of the week (a disillusioned healer boy added and crossed off in the same episode) is a return to the oddball highs of previous seasons. The Doctor's too were oddball and were pretty immoral here bagging which organs they get of Earl's when he dies. Having Earl in a coma gets the other's helping with the list and that will in the future have a nice turnaround for them I'm assuming. However what will happen when he's brought around and discovers Allysa Milano is still in her coma?moreless

The faith healer plot seemed farfetched from the start, and I'm glad it turned out to be a scam, which of course fits in with Earl's bad past, and the revelation that karma is still hanging around Earl, and his subconscious knows that Randy is helping with the list and his life can still be worth something, is very well written, as is the hospital scene between Randy and Earl. Of course it was obvious Earl wasn't going on to "get a promotion" since the show is called My Name Is Earl, but nevertheless, it is still a great dramatic scene, mixed in with some hilarious moments as well. With the final sitcom scene being Earl's decision to live on, the show looks like it will work very well, with Randy crossing off things until Earl wakes up.

This hilarious and terrifically plotted episode is a great addition to the season.moreless

  • Well, so far we have a lover and a hater of this episode. let me kind of take the middle ground here. Must say, though, I liked the good parts more than I hated the bad parts.moreless

This is the episode that we 'Earlies' have been waiting for for months. Maybe the anticipation was so great that it was going to be hard for it to live up to expectations. The pre-show buzz about Paris having a cameo probably didn't help as far as hardcore fans were concerned.

This one started off with an NBC exec filling us in on what happened to Earl during the strike. I thought it was fairly well done and was surely written by Earl writers (after the network lawyers looked it over) and this kind of thing hasn't been done in a while (TV shows used to do this quite often back in the day).

We pick up with Earl and Billie (Alyssa Milano) laying in the street. Of course, the medics want to take Billie (the hot one with the rack), so Randy has to steal the ambulance to save Earl. Not bad. Now we have some up-and-down, screwball comedy that seemed to stretch out a little too long. Jane Lynch as the psycho truck driver was kind of... eh. Also thought that Joy (Jaimie Pressley) was a little over the top in this one. Her trailer-trash dialect and attitude seemed a little forced (and I'm kind of a fan).

The 1950's sitcom, dream sequences when Earl is in the coma, I thought were pretty well done for the most part. We could have done without Paris (with her 1960's Laugh-in, sock-it-to me, 'That's Hot' lines), but it was done as a spoof (on her, probably) and I'm not gonna get my hair up in curlers about it.

This was kind of an uneven episode, but with a lot of funny lines and gags. Randy might have been the best character in this one - he never seems to lose that smart-dumbness of his. This would have been an excellent 45 minute episode if they would have let a lot of us get in there with scizzors and cut out about a quarter of it.

Still, most of it was good, solid Earl and it leaves us waiting for the next episode when things should return to normal (except for Earl being in a coma, of course).moreless
