      • Beverly Garland remembers being visited in her dressing room by some network suits who had just witnessed the filming of a scene with her and Fred MacMurray. Confident in her handling of the role, she was taken aback when told in no uncertain terms that her character was not intended to be so strong willed in its portrayal of the typical working sitcom wife. TV's first independent career woman was yet another year away from genesis until she was created in the form of the character Mary Richards in "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" (1970-77).

      • Consistent with a past continuity thread, Steve gets the family together to ask their approval of his wanting to marry Barbara. He promised Chip in the Second season premiere (Episode # 37) that if he ever decided to get married, he would ask the whole family first for their opinions. Not coincidentally, head writer George Tibbles was also the scribe of that long ago episode.

      • When Robbie and Katie lay in bed reminiscing about his childhood, the show's narrative and continuity of previous story elements is kept intact when Katie asks if Rob remembers his mother. He says barely because he was so little, and notes that Chip doesn't remember her at all. We don't need to hear about Ernie because of course we know he was adopted into the family.

      • The late Stafford Repp is best known as Chief O'Hara on the "Batman" TV series (1966).

      • Steve and Barbara are arrested for parking on private property up on Mulholland Drive, prompting Uncle Charley to observe that Steve has younger blood than he thought.
Mulholland Drive is a famous road in Los Angeles. It, and the Hollywood Reservoir Dam are named after engineer William Mulholland, who is responsible for designing and building the system of aqueducts and reservoirs that provide Los Angeles with most of its drinking water.
