      • The music for this episode was scored by Nathan Scott.

      • As noted at the beginning of this guide, series star Fred MacMurray insisted on a unique shooting plan that was to be copied by other top actors and christened "the MacMurray Method." This so-called "Writer's nightmare" stipulated that all of MacMurray's scenes were to be shot in 65 non-consecutive days. All other actors had to complete their fill-in shots while MacMurray was on vacation. Practically speaking, this meant the series had to stockpile at least half a season's scripts before the season ever began so that MacMurray's role could be shot during his limited work days. The repercussions of this schedule were enormous. Meredith MacRae remembered that MacMurray's deal was "great for him, but hard on the rest of us. They would shoot the master scene with Fred, and then Fred's close-up shot. Then the continuity people would take Polaroid stills of us, and the wardrobe lady and the hair and makeup people would save them and match them for when the scenes would eventually be completed with the other actors".

      • When Meredith MacRae joined the show she was already familiar with Bill Frawley as he was a friend of her actor parents Sheila and Gordon MacRae. Frawley welcomed her presence on the show, as there were no female regulars on the series up to this point. He managed to captivate MacRae. The late actress, who would die of complications from brain cancer in 2000, aged 56, noted that "Bill Frawley was one of the most delightful people I have ever known. For me, it was such an honor to have my first real job in show business working opposite him and MacMurray. I really consider myself very blessed to have worked with such professionals. They were wonderful actors and delightful people off screen as well as on. You could not imagine a better first job and be treated the way I was and be made to feel so thoroughly welcome".

      • This milestone episode introduces Meredith MacRae as Sally Morrison, who becomes Mike's girlfriend and who will eventually become his wife as the show moves to CBS in 1965. For this very reason I have elected not to list her as a recurring guest star for the next two seasons.
