    • TRIVIA (1)

      • For fans with clever attention to detail there's a quick continuity mistake in this episode. When Katie has another one of her famous fainting spells on the bed , she falls on the letter sent from her mother but when Chip comes in to get her the letter now appears to the side of her in camera view instead of under her where logically it would be if she had passed out on top of it.

    • NOTES (5)

      • Just as the previous season began with a five-part story arc showing how Robbie met Katie and then married her, this season begins with the seven-part story arc that leads to their birth of their children.

      • It should be noted here that actress Tina Cole (Katie) had in fact given birth to her first child, Volney Howard IV in 1966, approximately six months prior to her joining the show.

      • The music for this episode was scored by Jeff Alexander.

      • Because of the show's shooting schedule, the male members of the cast were required to get almost-weekly haircuts to keep the show's continuity intact. Never more evident than from this season, is the obvious fact that most of them also had dye jobs at the start of each new year. Stanley Livingston's sandy-blond hair has been dyed dark brown (which will wear out before the end of the season), and Fred MacMurray and Bill Demarest also appear to have gone under the hairdresser's magic potion.
Several fans have speculated that Fred and Bill actually wore toupees but I don't believe this to be the case. If this were true, the dye jobs would be unnecessary. Astute viewers will note in Season 5 when Demarest is introduced, that his hair appears to be gray, as one would expect of a man that was then into his early 70s. As the series progressed his hair is colored to a shade of orange-red by the show's hairdressers, and you'd be hard pressed to imagine that his individual hairstyle wasn't based on Moe Howard of "The Three Stooges" fame!

      • Fred MacMurray gives an obscure, off-handed reference to original eldest son Mike (Tim Considine) in this episode when he says to Robbie, 'When your mother was going to have the first of you boys...'
