    • Robbie and Katie are sent away for this episode... in the storyline Robbie will begin his Army Reserve training, a story thread that will continue in a later episode from this season, as well as into the following year during the period of Katie's pregnancy.

    • A secondary sub-plot of this episode involves Ernie being talked into joining the school orchestra for extra credit; he plays the trombone and it distracts everybody.

    • Teenaged actor Kevin Burchett had recently acted in the Walt Disney production, "Follow Me Boys!" (1966) that co-starred Fred MacMurray. He would also appear in the very next episode, but as a different character, and remember the episodes were not shot in order anyway.

    • The late character actor George Neise (1917-96), has the distinction of being the very first guest star of "My Three Sons". He appears as a Salesman in the opening scene of the series' Pilot episode. The installment begins as eight year old Chip answers the ringing doorbell to which the man asks, "Well, is the lady of the house in?". "Bub, somebody wants to see you!" yells Chip to his grandfather in the kitchen. And so began the series.

    • Curiously, in the original CBS Films press sheet that came with this episode, Steve Farrow and Dick Farrow are listed as having played First Boy and Second Boy, but are nowhere to be seen in the actual episode. Perhaps they went as far as filming a scene that never made it into the final aired print of this particluar episode.
