Convicted murderer, Luthor Skoales, has been sentenced to death by lethal injection. With a minister, his mother and the victim's family looking on, he is strapped into the chair, and when asked for his final remarks, he coldly tells them to "just get it over with". The prison officials do just that, but the straightforward routine is made complicated, when it takes an unusually long time for Skoales' heart to stop beating. Seconds later, the unexplainable happens, when Skoales' heart suddenly restarts, and the remorseless killer opens his eyes again.
Having known the minister for a long time, Declan uses his friendship with him to visit Skoales in prison, which launches his investigation to the phenomenal event. Both the minister and Skoales' mother, a devout Christian, try to convince Skoales that the botched execution is an act of divine intervention, while Declan looks for a more rational explanation.
I really enjoyed this episode, because the storyline, the themes, and the emotions are incredibly real, which makes it very easy for the viewing audience to relate. The focus is on Skoales, the victim's family, and Dr. Fowler herself, as each of them deal with the emotions connection to the deaths of loved ones. Definitely worth watching.
