      • Sir Osbert Sitwell's well-known novel was also the basis of a well-received but now little-known British film of 1945, directed by Bernard Knowles for Gainsborough Films. Interestingly, James Mason, although then only in his mid-thirties, was cast (at his own request) as the elderly man at the centre of the story.
