Episode Summary

The Boy Who Kept Swelling
Since she was in her early twenties, Malinda Sargestano, an active mother of two, has been suffering from a mysterious illness. She gets headaches, heart palpitations, constant sweating, sudden outbursts of anger, weight loss, and a bizarre growth in her abdomen. Eventually, Malinda almost commits suicide and sees a doctor who finds out that she has a rare tumor called a pheochromocytoma. When Craig Leppert is eighteen months old, he begins to suffer from a set of baffling symptoms. He has unexplainable pain and skin irritation in sunlight, develops swollen hands and arms, and his hands become purplish. A doctor later finds out that Craig has a rare disorder called erthropoietic protoporphyria (EPP), which makes him extremely sensitive to sunlight.moreless
