Ed Wood, he of cross-dressing, "Plan 9" and Johnny Depp fame, offers "Bride of the Monster," a movie that succeeds only in elciting a viewer response of "What the hell just happened?"
Good old Bela Lugosi is a mad scientist at work on...something...in an old mansion in a swamp, killing any yokles who stumble across his lair. Aiding (?) Lugosi in his work is Wood regular and MST vet Tor Johnson as Lobo. And some plucky cop and his gal Friday reporter are trying to find out what's going on. They don't, and neither do we.
It's an epic disaster, one Joel and the Bots tear into with gusto. From the random shots of octopi to the jump cuts and the scenes where Lugosi is obviously a double, it's a great MST experiment.
And on top of all of that, we have Part 1 of "Hired!", a Chevrolet informational short about the trials and tribulations of a door-to-door car salesman.
Too bad this one isn't on DVD...it's easily among the best episodes ever aired.moreless
