Gamera vs. Guiron is very different movie from the rest of the series, but is still virtually identical to all of the others. Two small children, Tom and Akio, come across an alien spaceship and decide to take it out for a spin. The ship takes them through space, passing Gamera on the way without explanation to why he's in space to begin with, and land on an alien planet. The inhabitants of this planet have a sad story to tell about the demise of their planet, and hatch a plan to go to earth. Guiron lives on this planet as a defensive weapon; in the beginning he puts a quick end to Space Gaos, a flashy silver version of Gaos, by slicing him like deli meat. Gamera comes to save the day fighting Guiron and helping the kids return home. This movie is a very strange movie, even from a series of movies about a giant fighting turtle. It is chock full of unusual scenes including Gamera showing off his gymnastic abilities. The riffing by the crew is great, but I felt that the host segments fell a little flat.moreless
