  • Not MST3K's best episode, but I can't really blame them for this

Poor Joel, Crow, and Tom suffered through their worst move ever, The Castle of Fu Manchu. The show begins with Joel and the bots doing a marching band skit and it was really good. Then the after the invention exchange, Dr. Forrester and TV's Frank send up the experiment, The Castle of Fu Manchu. The movie would be about the evil Fu Manchu (Christopher Lee) trying to take over the world using a freeze ray to freeze up the oceans of the world. What makes this episode so bad is the fact that Joel and the bots riffing on the movie wasn't that funny and there were barely any funny moments at all. Even the skits weren't that great and lacked the humor. I can't really blame them though, since the movie they were seeing was so bad, confusing, and boring it sucked the riffing out of them and they had a few nervous breakdowns as the movie went on. They eventually got through ti and just when they were about to surrender to Dr. Forrester, he and TV's Frank were dared to riff on the movie as well, but failed. To be honest, that was the only funny segment in this episode, and Joel and the bots got their revenge on the mads for showing them this boring movie. I give The Castle of Fu Manchu a 0 out of 10, but the MST3K version gets a 2.5 out of 10, and not just for sympathy of Joel and the bots, but because they were giving their best effort to try to riff on this movie.moreless
