A great sample of the Joel era, this one has good host segments and nice interplay with the Mads. Watching the older shows really reveals how, even if the riffing got better, the host segments suffered when Trace Beaulieu/Dr. Forrester left the show. Frank's song at the end, and Dr. F's grenade response are fantastic.

The movie itself is glorious Bert I. Gordon schlock...the scenes with the floating head haunting the murderous jazz pianist are a hoot.

You know, the fact that I just wrote "floating head haunting the murderous jazz pianist" really sums up the crap factory that is "Tormented." It's BAD...complete with a nosy little girl and a jive-talking hipster blackmailer. This attempt at "beach noir" (?) is a perfect choice for ridicule.

Oh, and as a bonus...if you get this on the Volume 11 DVD set, you can watch the syndicated intros of Mike Nelson as Jack Perkins on the "Mystery Science Theater Hour." I have fond memories of this, as it came on in Richmond after Saturday Night Live during 6th grade. What a glorious year that was...moreless
