Who was the Episode MVP ?

  • busted (myth, Buster, boom-lift, ground)...

Windows vs AC…so I remember driving on long road trips and having my dad say that we needed to turn off the AC and open the windows to get better miles per gallon. Guess that thought has always been in my head because that was who I was guessing would win, and imagine that, Adam won. I am sure that many people will complain about this myth. So I liked the catapult and the idea that it is so big and so many tings could go wrong that the results will be cool no matter what. Glad to see that they didn’t disappoint.moreless
  • "MythBusters: Breaking big things for science, everyday!"

Only on MythBusters will you be able to find a boom-lift being used as a catapult and the fuel efficiency of cars being tested in the same episode.

For the testing of the fuel efficiency for car use, it may have been informative to see what uses more fuel in your car, driving down the road with the air conditioning or with the windows open, but I found this myth to be somewhat boring. Granted, with how high the gas prices are right now it's great to find some economical way to save on fuel and money, but watching Jamie and Adam testing this myth isn't all that exciting, just to see that you have better fuel efficiency with your windows rolled down.

Now, onto the Boom-Lift Catapult myth. I found that the premise of this myth to be interesting, a man used a boom-lift to lift an engine out of his car. The chain that he uses breaks, and he is catapulted 200 yards over his house and lands in a tree. Sounds crazy, right? Maybe, but I like how the MythBusters crew aren't afraid to bust the myth. However, when the crew follows the myth to the letter, it fails miserably, causing them see what it would take for that catapult to actually work. So, in order for the modified myth to work, the crew puts the boom-lift on 4 shipping containers and turn it into a catapult. When the whole crew pull the quick release after everything is ready. Once they pull the release, Buster's body flies about 50 feet, with his hand flying further and the boom-lift is completely destroyed, with the crew pleased about the results.

I found this episode to be really entertaining. I just love the distruction of the boom-lift, which made up for the disappointing myth of the AC vs. Open window debate.moreless
