Episode Summary

EDIT
This time around, Adam and Jamie test out a myth that footballs filled with helium will fly further and hang longer than ones filled with regulation air. Based on the myth of a 70s Oakland Raiders Punter. Next, the build team undertake tests in the firing line. Are teeth strong enough to withstand the force of a bullet?moreless

  • teeth!!

So once again the physics wins out over the first thought on a myth. People automatically assumed that because helium is lighter than air that a football filled with it will travel longer as it “floats”. But the truth is that the more mass an object has the more it will resist the friction of the air and travel. Being a dentist I loved the trapping a bullet with your teeth myth. The idea that the teeth aren’t strong enough to catch a bullet was more important I think than the other things that disproved the myth (the reaction time and the fact that a bullet would fall apart). I laughed so hard when Tory put the denture in his mouth and Grant made the comment that it was from the mortuary.moreless
  • this is a very cool episode.

this myth is about a football filled with helium makes it stay in the air longer and makes it go alot further, this episode was great the way they tested it was very cool the whole episode was cool, this episode was one of the best and coolest tested myth, it's a good episode.
  • Simple and easy.

Being a sports fan this epidose was interesting. It was just the second sport myth that they have tackled. I don't see Adam and Jamie being guys who play sports. They could probably tested Helium with other balls too but it centered on just the football. The other myth was catching a bullet with your teeth. It was quite obvious that it was impossible to do but still with Mythbusters' spirit they tried it. Grant's mechanism was cool but it didn't provide good results. Anyhow the Helium football myth was busted as well due to the fact that the trajectory of the football when heavier will go farther and smoother than the one lighter.moreless
  • The last new episode for this mouth and its end with a decent but a filler type of episode.

    6.3
The last new episode for this mouth and its end with a decent but a filler type of episode, that I only think aired this week, because it dealt with a football myth.

Since, at the time this episode first aired, it Super bowl week and so Discovery thought that it might be a good idea to air a myth about football. Not a bad idea because that is the one thing that is one the mind of most people this week, but to me it felt like a cheap shot, like how all of the major networks air holiday themed episode around the time when the particular holiday is right around the block. I honestly thought that Discovery well above this crap, but it looks like that I was wrong about them.

While the football myth, the one about that Helium full football can go further than a regular air full one, took most of the previews and it look like that this one was going to be yet another signal myth episode, not that I don’t mind them. I was proved wrong when I found out that there was another one, the one about that you can caught a bullet with your mouth, an old fashion magic trick and one that was seen in a movie once.

Now, with most episodes of this show I am completely into the show and I am very entertained by the content of the episode, this one I wasn’t. I felt like I am being forced feed this one and that neither of two myths in this episode really held my attention like some of the other episodes do.moreless
