This is one of my favourite specials. actually it is my favourite special. Adam was so funny with his pirate voice and how he was so enthusiastic about being a pirate and things. one of my favourite parts was when Adam and Jamie had to go through the obstical course blind and things. I mean they were randomly swinging their swords arounf so they wouldn't riun into anything and they still got hurt and thigs. then they changed eye patches and they flew through the course. I also love when they were shooting the pigs and Adam got a sense of humanity. this episode is one of the few that akes me laugh taht I choke. Awesome.moreless

I would of never guessed in a life time that a eyepatch could be use for night vision, it was unbeleivable! I guess I under estimated those druken ocean theives, they are pretty smart for guys who smell and drink alot.

I was kinda disappointed that the sail knife escape doesn't work but I did have a feeling that it wouldn't work for it was difficult to control speed.

The rum myth didn't surprise me that it didn't work and Jaime did make a valid point that a pirate would never wast their rum just for cleaning laundry!

I was kinda intrested in the splinter angle but it turned out to be none fatal so I guess the only way to kill a pirate is with cannonballs of fun!moreless

I found this episode one of the best ones in the whole show of Mythbusters! I acutally win in a dark game of Hide-and-go-seek because of the the pirate eyepatch. Man I love the Mythbusters. But for a second I really thought that the shrapnel was more lethal then the cannonball. The Mythbusters are very convincing when they do things like that. But i knew the Rum myth never had a chance, but it was still pretty cool. Pirates are more likely to drick rum, then to wash with rum. Also i always thought that the knife on a sail myth was acutally going to work, but the Mythbusters proved that on wrong. The Pirate eyepath to me was a cool myth. I always thought of the eyepatch was to hide the tookin' out eye, but was for nightvision. Wow I never knew that pirates were so smart! Cannonball Vs. Shrapnel, who will win? The Mythbusters made that one seems so lethal. But shockingly, the cannonball was more diedly. I thought the shrapnel was more killer because of the high-speed cam made it look that way. Rum cleaner, i knew that one was going to fail. Pirates would think of it as suicide by cleaning there bloody clothing with rum. I always knew that rum would never clean. But it was still pretty nice to see the Mythbusters try and solve that one. Last but not least, the knife in the sail. I was sure that that on was going to work! But, it wasnt going to work. I was hoping that one was going to work for sure! Oh well, its back to the drawing board...moreless

Another excellent special from the Mythbusters

I watch Mythbusters and I saw some of their specials, but I think that this one in particular was the best one yet. When I saw the preview for this episode, I knew it would be enjoyable to watch. Some of the pirate myths that were tested are pretty interesting, including the eye patch myth. Another intriguing factor that was incorporated into the special was the myth that you can safely slide down a sail using only a knife. The recent episodes that have premiered on the Discovery Channel are great, both entertaining and informative. I hope to see many specials like this one in the future.moreless

the myth that you can can see better with an eyepatch, or the myth that the splinters from a ship are worse than a canon ball, well the mythbusters test all the myths, this was a great episode and one of the best, this was a very very good episode.
