Episode Summary

Adam and Jamie go head to head in a madcap Mexican jailbreak as they taste-test the theory of the Salsa Escape. And take one cement truck, add 850 pounds of dynamite, and what's left? • Jamie and Adam blow up a cement truck. They do other things, too, but they aren't worth mentioning. I mean, they BLOW UP A CEMENT TRUCK!!!

This has got to be my favorite episode of Mythbusters. Jamie and Adam decide to test the myth that you can clean out a cement truck full of hardened cement with a stick of dynamite. Of course, they follow the usual Mythbusters process: state the myth, recreate the circumstances of the myth, find out what it would take for the results to actually happen. And do they ever!!!! A single stick of dynamite doesn't work. Thank God. The episode wouldn't be very exciting if it did. Then they get their regular explosives expert (Frank Doyle, a retired FBI agent) in for some REAL action. And action it is. The cement truck is blown to absolute smithereens! They have to stand a mile away to keep from being hit by the debris, and, when you watch the high speed, you can actually see the shock wave! The only thing left of the truck is one of the axles and some twisted metal fragments. To quote Jamie: "Now, THERE'S your problem!"moreless

Who woulda thunk that you could use salsa to escape from prison. I guess that being in a place like that, you have a lot of time to think about stuff and play with stuff. And of course adding a little bit of brain power to that time of your hands, proves to be beneficial (adding the current). I like Adams statement that salsa will be banned in prison after that episode. And blowing up the cement truck, how fun. I like the idea of using dynamite to take some of the grunt work out of the clean-up joband then when they had fun and blew up the truck just because that was coolmoreless

This episode was totally awesome. In this episode the MythBusters test if salsa can actually melt through metal in the right conditions and if you can remove the cememt build-up inside of a cement truck by using dynamite. With the salsa myth, Jamie and Adam had another competition to see who could break out of jail first using salsa and electricity. In the end it came out with Jamie beating Adam by a mile, in the end, salsa does melt through metal given the right conditions and time. Now I'm not so sure if I'll eat salsa again if it can eat metal! With the cement truck and dynamite myth, Jmaie and Adam brought back Jack Morrocco to help out with the explosives. They ended up finding that cherry-bombs and 1 stick of dynamite don't do the trick. Instead they had to call in the FBI and use 80-lbs of explosives. I can only say two words-BIG BOOM!! The blast completely destroyed the truck and could be seen a mile away, which was how far away the MythBusters were. It ended up being the biggest blast in MythBusters history. In the end the myth was made plausible.moreless

When you put 850 pounds of dynamite into a cement truck you know there are going to be some fireworks. I knew something special was going to happen because I don't think I have seen the cameras that far away from and explosion. (It looked like the truck just disappeared!!!)

The other two myths were good, but THAT explosion was the highlight of the show for me!

    ADD NOTES
    • The man who helped with the explosives on the cement truck myth had a San Francisco Giants hat on. However, for some reason, it was intentionally blurred by the TV producers. Edit
    • Both cement trucks they used were called "Twister". Edit
    • When they start the cement mixer myth, they only wanted a small bit of cement in the mixer to simulate the coating of cement that builds up inside over time; what they got was a cement mixer that was half filled with dried cement. Adam saved the day when he remarks that there were two myths: one with a thin coat, and one with a large slab. They later call the company that gave them the first one and got a second cement mixer with the residual cement. Edit
