A Bunch of Superhero Myths are put to the test!
  • I think Adam had a Newtonian physics problem in his concrete anchor and cable myth during the Superheros hour.

In the normal use of stud gun the user provides a force vector equal to or greater than the charge force vector. In Adam's application, the force vector at the velocity the anchor was fired probably didn't exceed the explosive force of the charge. Newton's third law was clearly at work! The charge's force was not sufficiently opposed by the force vector of the cannon which fired it. Presumably, if the velocity of the firing were raised(F=MA), the opposing force to the charge would be sufficiently large to force the stud into the concrete rather than pushing it back.
