One of the rare episodes that revolves around a trial instead of the typical investigation of a case. Besides the intriguing plot it is pleasurable to see 2 future stars of hit landmark TV series early in their careers. Jean Stapleton who went on to co-star as Edith Bunker in All In The Family plays Mrs. Trellis, the head juror and Robert Culp who went on to star in I Spy as Kelly Robinson plays the husband, Richard Calder who kills is wife and gets aways with murder. Emil Pappas, one of the jurors is played to perfection by Akim Tamiroff who played the man who hired the Rat Pack to pull of the Las Vegas casinos hiests in the original Ocean's 11.
Another unusual aspect of this episode is that there are several flashback scenes, a device rarely used in the years the series aired. During this 4th and final year of the series the outstanding story lines that made this series a sucess were decidely inferior, it's obvious why the series was cancelled at the end of this season. This was one of the best episodes of the year, had all of them equaled this episode's quality I am confident the series would've been renewed for at least another season.
