It probably deserves that at least, for the filler and the slower pace.

Without those two, the show's rating would probably be 9.0 or 9.5.

In Japan there's a Dragon Ball Kai, a remastered filler free version of DBZ with the original cast reprise their roles. He means maybe in the future, Shippuden will get it's own "Kai" too.

There were alot of filler episodes. Like Gohan's little training for the arrival of Vegeta and Nappa, Gohan, Krillin and Bulma land on a Fake Namek, Krillin's girlfriend Marron, Goku and Piccolo trying to get driver licenses, Gohan on a date with that one girl, the Garlic Jr. and Other World filler sagas (though the Other World one was considered part of the Great Saiyaman saga), etc. There's a bunch of them.

I know, you're serious, that's why it's so cute! I've only been watching kai, but I know there was a lot of filler. A think there was some 15 episodes between Raditz and Nappa which had nothing to do with the manga. With the way people are with filler now, I imagine it had to be ten times more infuriating then.

Garlic Jr was about the worst of the fillers in DBZ. Of course the filler where they run into those kids in space and go to the fake Namek were pretty boring imo.

....I did not know the Gohan training was a filler, but the rest you named I never saw. I consider Garlic jr. stuff movies..even the pruify water thing...guess I was lucky ._.

hmm strange I thought only db manga came first before the anime and not dbz manga before the anime. that skinda odd to here but whatever.

but hey it was suppose to end at freeza saga right. they just made millions of plotholes continuing it.

to bad they overmilked the cow in the end. just look how disasterous db gt was. freaking one of the worst shounen of all time (in my opinion)

Well, the Gohan training was part of the manga, but most of the details weren't, or were skimmed over. I think there was a part where Gohan escapes, trying to return to his mother - this was filler.
