*Spoilers for Episodes 119 AND 120!* I don't know how to explain this episode in words. It is possibly the best episode I have ever watched. And that is saying a LOT. It was beautiful. I can't believe I got so attached to Obiko, Rin, and the Third Hokage after only knowing them for 40 minutes. It was really interesting to see Kakashi as a kid, and how much he was affected by his father's death. I loved Obiko; he was so much like Naruto. THe scene where he changed Kakashi's view on life was incredible. It gives me a new perspective on how Kakashi must view Naruto, Sakura (who bears a strong resemblence to Rin), and Sasuke. It is great to see how Kakshi got his Sharingan. Although I was slightly disappointed to know that it was given to him, it was still very moving and meaningful. When Obito died, I actually cried. It gave me a painful hint of how I would feel if Naruto dies for Sakura or Sasuke. The part when Obito talks with Kakashi and Rin before he died was a tearjerker, and it was beatifully written and drawn. This episode really is why I love Naruto (gthe show) so much. It was moving, had chaaracters who the viewer automatically becomes attached to, was full of emotion and meaning, and was very refreshing to see a story of Kakashi's childhood. This episdoe really reminded me why Naruto is one of the best shows ever!moreless

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (5)

    • Goof: When Team Kakashi is battling the Stone ninja in the forest, the symbol of the Hidden Stone Village on the Stone ninja's forehead protector is different from what is normally appears as. The two rocks that make up the symbol are drawn with straight lines, thus making the symbol look like squares and rectangles, instead of the wavy looking rocks that is should look like.

    • In the past, the Fourth Hokage was known as the "Yellow Flash of Konoha".

    • Kakashi's father, Sakumo Hatake, fell into deep depression when he saved his comrades rather than completing the mission, where he became dishonored even by the comrades he saved. Due to this, he committed suicide, which caused Kakashi to live by the Ninja Code.

    • This episode marks the first time in both the original series and Shippuden where the Fourth Hokage has a speaking role.

    • In the manga, this side story occurred between part 1 and part 2 (Shippuden in the anime).

  • QUOTES (1)

    • Obito: Sure in the world of the ninja those who break the rules and regulations are regarded as scum... But...those who abandon their comrades...are worse than scum! I'm gonna be trash anyway, so I choose to break the rules. And if that doesn't make me a true ninja...then I'll crush this so-called "ninja".
