It is revealed that Yashamaru really did care for Gaara in the past and only expressed hatred for Gaara under his father's orders.

This episode first introduces Ino's mother for the first time.

Goof: Kage Mane No Jutsu binds the movements of the target to the user of the jutsu, making it so that the only way the target can move is if the user moves. Since this has been shown to be true, how could Naruto put out his hand to take his headband from Iruka while under Kage Mane?

In the manga, Ino, Shikamaru, and Choji lead Asuma's attacks to destroy one of Kakuzu's hearts. In this episode, Temari destroys one of the hearts instead.

This is the first time in Naruto history that we see Sakura's parents.

The opening theme for episode has some new footage that showcases a selection of scenes from the upcoming "Road to Ninja" movie.

This is a special episode that ties-in with the upcoming "Road to Ninja" movie, which premieres in Japan on 7/28.

Goof: After Zabuza kills Gato in the flashback, he stumbles over to Haku and lays down beside him, with nothing sticking out of his back. Yet, in Naruto episode 19, he was stabbed with many weapons that were still in his back after killing Gato. Also, Kakashi carried Zabuza over to Haku's body.

Goof: In the flashback where Gato kicks Haku's corpse, he's on Haku's right. But in the Naruto epsiode (episode 19), he's on his left.

Goof: When Kakashi and Zabuza face off for the second time on the bridge in the flashback, Naruto didn't show up until after Haku and Sasuke were already in the Ice Mirror. Naruto and Haku never faced off like that.

Goof: In Haku's flashback, when Haku awakes Naruto, he's on Naruto's left, but in the original episode (Naruto episode 12) Haku is on Naruto's right.

Goof: Watch Zabuza's eyes in the flashback. The iris' are the right colour, but the whites of his eyes are Edo Tensei black.

Konan uses paper disc blades to attack Madara, this does not happen in the manga.

Goof: At one point in the episode when Shikaku, Inoichi, and Choza are talking to Kosuke, Shikaku is shown without a beard; when the screen flashes to Inoichi and Choza's faces and slides over to show Shikaku, the latter's face is back to normal.

During the beginning of the opening theme, one can see the Hokage's faces become panicked when the Hokage Monument explodes, if watching in slow motion.

Kabuto is shown to look significantly more like Orochimaru since his previous appearance.
