Episode Summary

Konoha (The Village Hidden in the Leaves) 12 years ago: The village is attacked by a vicious Nine-Tailed Demon Fox. In a final act to defeat the demon, the Fourth Hokage sealed its essence within the body of a baby boy. ''''In the present, the child Naruto Uzumaki attends a Ninja Academy; however because of the incident 12 years prior many in the village see him as the demon itself. Not understanding why the people hate him so, he resorts to pranks and other acts to gain attention. He has a dream is to become the greatest Hokage so he can gain acknowledgment and respect. One day, after failing his graduation exam for the third time, an instructor named Mizuki convinces him to steal a sacred scroll so he can become more powerful. The instructor has other plans however, as he follows Naruto and tells him a terrible secret.moreless

  • The 1st Naruto Episode ever, very impressive indeed...

    I watched this episode first about 8 months ago. No offence, but I was expecting Naruto to be retarded, boy was I wrong. It starts and it is explaining about the Nine Tailed Fox and the Fourth Hokage had to seal it inside Naruto (he had just been born.
    It skips 12 years later and Naruto is a mischiveous young boy who likes to get all the attention. He was never good at the academy and was always getting in to trouble. His teacher, Iruka, had his parents killed by the Nine Tailed Fox.
    They had there Graduation Exams and Naruto of course... EPIC FAIL! A Chuunin by the name of Mizuki, told Naruto to steal the Sroll of Sealing which has hundreds of Ninjutsu written down by the 1st Hokage.
    Iruka was able to find Naruto but Mizuki was there too. Mizuki tells Naruto about himself and Naruto shows Mizuki his Shadow Clone Jutsu and defeats him.
    Iruka begins to grow as a father figure to Naruto because he is the only one who ever was nice to Naruto.
    Not very good in terms of fightingg, but it was packed with emotion and had a really good story.

    This was a great way to start an anime; in the beginning they show a brave man even now in the show and manga known only as "the 4th hokage" or "yondaime" standing on a gigantic frog who there is not named, and the 4th sealed the malicous demon fox called "kyubi" inside a new born baby who is Naruto. The 4th hokage is not shown close up though; he is shown from far enough away that you can barely see him. We then cut to naruto making mischief, and running from ninja who are trying to stop him from causing trouble. Then later on naruto and iruka, naruto's sensei, face off against a rogue ninja named mizuki who trys to manipulate naruto into releasing the fox out of him. Instead naruto reads from the scroll how to use the shadow clone jutsu, and stops mizuki from killing iruka. Iruka then promotes naruto from a student at the academy to a genin. This was a great episode and it did a great job of combining comedy, action, annd explaining what the show is about.moreless

  • alright what can i say, this episode is the 1st in the 250 episode series, and this episode caught my attention right from the start, it starts w/ the story of the nine-tail fox and the Fourth Hokage, who seals this Nine-Tail Fox into a boy named Naruto.moreless

    Alright to me this episode from the start wasn't as great as it should have been. After watching this show for a while though I began to like what was going on. Altogether this show is a really good start to a really great series. Anybody that watched this show will automatically fall in love w/ ths show from my opinion. The story of the Nine-Tail Fox goes really great w/ this story that the people of Naruto created. I really think that they should have included from the start that Fourth Hokage was the......... sorry, can't tell you that, guess you'll just have to find out.moreless

    the episode starts with the hokage telling the story of narut then tou see some ninja chashing naruto because naruto did graffiti soon naruto's teacher catches him and makes naruto clean up. at the end of the day the teacher said he would treat naruto to ramen. then naruto goes back to school and fails so one of the teachers tells naruto to steal a sacred scroll so he does thinking it will make him pass with the scroll he learns some new tecnices and then the bad teacher wants to steal the scroll but the good teacher trys to stop him naruto helps ands ends up passing his school
    the bad teacher is named mizuki and the good teacher is named irukamoreless

    The episode tells the story of Naruto and the nine tails demon. I didnt know what to think at first about an anime with ninjas in it, but after i saw this first episode my opinion changed. The demon, Kyuubi, was the character that caught my attention the most, basically all the scene with him on it. The story was fascinating, yet sad. But even if Naruto had a sad and painful past, he enjoyed his present on the ninja academy,making pranks and jokes. That is why this episode is one of my favorites, because it is not only informative, but also emotional and interesting, and it's the beggining of one of the most amazing stories.moreless

    • In the edited version of the English dub, when Naruto does his Sexy Jutsu, Iruka gets a nosebleed, but you don't see any blood. On the other hand, it's a bit obvious that there was some kind of nosebleed, as there are plugs in his nostrils when he yells at Naruto. Edit
    • When Naruto uses his Orioke no Jutsu (Sexy Jutsu), in the Japanese version, Iruka is shown having a nosebleed and then yelling at Naruto with tissues up his nose to stop the bleeding. However, in the edited version of the English dub, when the blood was edited out, the tissues were still there when he yelled, "CUT THE STUPID TRICKS!" Edit
    • During the confrontation scene with Naruto, Iruka and Mizuki, watch the shoulder of Iruka's vest. First, it's pinned to the wall behind him after Mizuki first attacks.
